Caves formations Sometimes, water wears down the limestone's in the caves This causes rocks to fall down and form sinkholes.

• Water drips through the roof of these caves and creates cone-shaped formation that hang from the room known as stalactites.

• Stalagmites are also shaped as a cone but they grow upwards.

• When stalactites and stalagmites run into each other form columns.
