November 4, 2016 Northeastern School District
The following York Haven Students have not missed a day of school yet!! They must really love to learn. Great job!
Congratulations to High School Assistant Principal Melissa Bream, who
successfully defended her dissertation on Monday.
Way to go DR. BREAM! We are proud of you!!
Conewago celebrated the 50th day of school with root beer floats, bubble gum blowing contests and dancing.
Congratulations to Maddie Warrender
for earning a trip to the PIAA State meet
in cross country, which will be held in
Hershey on November 5th! She placed
21st out of 244 athletes who competed in
the AAA girl’s race at the District III
meet. Be sure to congratulate her on a
great race and wish her good luck.
In the Shallow Brook main office, Dr.
Payne (Principal) and Mr. Carlisle
(Guidance Counselor) had some help
from some students this week. As a
prize for a recent PTO event, Kacy
Kauffman was the Honorary SBI Prin-
cipal of the Day, while Anthony Week-
ley served as Honorary Guidance Coun-
selor of the day. The kids got to run a
meeting, appear on the announce-
ments, and (most importantly) sit in a
comfortable office chair all day long!
In Miss Kramlick's second grade class at
Conewago, we wrote friendly letters to vic-
tims of Hurricane Matthew who live in
North Carolina. We also collected dona-
tions to send to those families who lost eve-
rything. The students learned about letter
writing, where we are compared to the rest
of our country, and how to show compas-
sion for others!
Congratulations to the fire compa-
ny coloring contest winners!!
Alaina H., Nevaeh K., Alexa M.,
and Ashley H. rode to school in a
fire truck. Awesome job ladies!
Conewago third graders recently competed in
their annual yearbook cover contest. Each stu-
dent designed their own drawings. After finalists
were chosen, the whole school voted on their fa-
vorite designs. Congratulations to Seth Mish-
ler and Aidan Reigart-Miller for second and first
place! And a big thank you to all the third grad-
ers for their hard work.
SFI students love to read! Our PTO ran a very successful Scholastic Book Fair and our Bobcats purchased lots of fan-tastic new books! Thank you to all our students for their support of the book fair and to our PTO for coordinating this wonderful event!
Orendorf Elementary Child Nutrition
Staff enjoyed showing off their “You
can’t scare me—I’m a Lunch Lady” tee
shirts on Halloween.
Shallow Brook students who've gone the entire first marking period without a discipline issue were awarded
with a special Fall Fest celebration! Obstacle courses, games, inflatables, trivia games, glacier flakes, and fun
with friends were a well-deserved reward for a marking period of good behavior.
On Wednesday, November 2, the SFI family came together to celebrate our Bobcats first quarter suc-
cesses! We are proud of our Bobcats and wish everyone continued success throughout the school
year!
At Spring Forge Intermediate School's
Awards Assembly on November 2,
Lydia Alvarnaz led the student body,
staff, and parent visitors in singing
the familiar first verse of "The Star-
Spangled Banner". She then sang a
solo of the second, third, and fourth
verses, presenting the entire national
anthem from memory.
Third grade teachers at York Haven Elementary collaborated as they joined together and taught ‘Bat Loves the
Night.’ Students were separated based on their topic of interest, and were read a read-aloud which was bat-
themed. Mission? Find all kinds of facts to support why their topic was interesting. Accomplishment? Students
wrote a descriptive opinion paragraph focusing in on one interesting theme they learned about bats! Check out
our bats in the night sky!
We are VOTING! Third grade teacher, Morgan Lanzalotti, is having her students create their own opinion about the presiden-
tial candidates! She set up 5 stations (vocabulary, branches of government, U.S. map, Scholastic News, and
President history) for Election 2016 in which students rotated and were able to develop their own opinion
about Trump and Clinton. Elections will be held for the entire York Haven body on Monday and Tuesday.
Can’t wait to see how our students vote!
Administration Building staff had fun celebrating Halloween with
a pumpkin carving contest and yummy treats for all!
