• Collected license plate numbers (using cameras &

volunteers) at 8 locations for 12 entry/exit points

• Data were collected for 12 hours (7 a.m. to 7 p.m.)

• Matched entering and existing license plates

• Determined cut-thru volume and percentage at

each entry/exit point

• Used SPU database of license plates to match and

document number and percent of SPU traffic

• All routes studied experience a significant

percentage of cut-through travel

• Approx. 1,950 of 3,570 vehicles (55%) entering area,

were cut-thru

• Largest volume on Queen Anne Ave N; 577

southbound, 409 northbound

• Also high on eastbound W Smith Street; estimated

495 cut-thru trips

• Approx. 165 vehicles (46% of total volume) use

Warren Ave N as southbound route

• Approx. 206 vehicles (59% of total volume) use

Warren Ave N as northbound route.

• SPU matches were approx. 5% of all cut-thru traffic;

highest on W Raye St – 43 SPU plates (~19%) of

approximately 230 cut-thru trips.
