MAYOR’S CORNER
How much do you love North Olmsted? February is I ♥ North Olmsted month,
dedicated to all things HEALTHY and HEART. Our bicentennial year is in full
swing, with events in February focusing on fitness, food and fun! Show your
community pride with I ♥ N.O. merchandise, available at our events or at city hall.

Commit to be Fit is Friday, February 6th from 6:00-9:00PM at the North Olmsted
Recreation Center. On this National Wear Red Day promoting women’s heart
health, join us as we commit to improved fitness in 2015. Learn more about our
new fitness programming with class demos, tours of the fitness center and meet and
greets with our personal trainers. Swimming and skating will be free during this
event. Take advantage of our blood pressure screenings and CPR/AED
demonstrations. Don’t forget to sign up for our BiKEcentennial 200 mile challenge.
State of the City: February 12th, 11:30AM-1:30PM, Springvale Ballroom.
Hear about the health of the community at Mayor Kennedy’s State of the City
address at a luncheon at Springvale Ballroom. Learn about what’s going on in the
City and new initiatives planned which will ensure that North Olmsted is a place
future generations will love. Your $20 ticket includes a plated lunch, fun giveaways
and access to this exclusive bicentennial event. Purchase or reserve tickets at

Our Farm Market & Food Show is Sunday, February 22nd from 1:00-4:00PM.
Eating healthy never tasted so good! Sample nutritious food options from area chefs
and restaurants and visit our winter farm market in the North Olmsted Community
Cabin and Senior Center. Take away great tips for healthy cooking and a few
recipes, too! Bring a non-perishable food item donation for the Oxcart Pantry to be
eligible for great raffle prizes.

Lastly, all city offices, including the Senior Center, will be closed in observance of
President’s Day on Monday, February 16th.

Soup & Salad Fundraiser Wednesday, February 25th at
12:00 in the Community Cabin The first soup & salad fundraiser of
2015 will be hosted by Joshua Tree.
Enjoy delicious homemade soup along
with a side salad and dessert. All pro-
ceeds from this program benefit the
North Olmsted Senior Center. Sign up

mation regarding a new senior center

AARP Tax Assistance: The North Olmsted Senior Center is
taking currently appointments for free income tax assistance.
This complimentary service is provided by the generous men
and women volunteers of AARP. If you would like to make
an appointment to have your taxes prepared please call the
Senior Center at: 777-8100. All appointments will be sched-
uled on Wednesday’s beginning February 4th through April
8th. Please be sure to inform the staff member or volunteer
who is scheduling your appointment
if you have sold any stocks, bonds or
mutual funds in 2014, because you
will need a longer appointment. If
you have questions concerning your
taxes please call the center on

All persons 60 and older are welcome to join us for lunch. A reg-
istration form must be completed and can be obtained at the
front desk. Once this has been completed and is on file, you may
sign up for any lunches that you choose. Please contact the
center for more details! This program was made possible by a
Grant from the Ohio Department of Aging through the Western
Reserve Area Agency on Aging. Please acquire your lunch ticket
at the sign in desk and be in your seats no later than 11:30am.

own lunch reservation. Due to a limited amount of lunches that will be
ordered, reservations will not be made over the phone. Sign-up is always
one week in advance as the reservations are called in to the caterer on

most unique, boutique winery, The School House Winery of Dover, for a presentation on their
wines and tastings of their vintages. We'll travel into Sugarcreek for an Amish Lunch at the Dutch
Valley Restaurant. Next, we'll travel to Coblentz Chocolates of Walnut Creek to see how they make
their chocolate specialties. En-route home, we'll complete our day at Perennial Vineyards of Brew-
ster for a wine tasting.
