North American IT Strategy Overview
Supporting our Changing Landscape• Prior to 2003, each CBI division had different computers, networks, mail systems, business support software and web systems.
– No real standards across the operating companies regarding IT practices & governance.– Large percentage of core IT systems were developed in-house using older technology
• Very custom and hard to enhance and maintain• Difficult to find resources with appropriate skills
– Senior CBI and divisional management recognized the need to standardize, consolidate and leverage IT skills where practical.
• Since 2001, Constellation has made significant investments in a modern computing technology infrastructure and powerful new business support systems.– J.D. Edwards adopted as core ERP system for all divisions (globally)– Over $30 million invested in software and implementation costs– All North American divisions are now running J.D. Edwards ERP

North American IT Strategy Overview(cont’d)
Majority of leverage of resources and consolidation of hardware has occurred– Formulated cross-divisional shared services strategy in 2002
– Consolidated majority of computing hardware to CWUS data center in 2003
– Led CBI sourcing initiative for all PC related hardware and software and implemented for all divisions in 2003
– Formed NAIT in 2004• Consolidated all divisional IT groups into one CBI organization lead by Corp CIO• Leveraged IT skills and management• Brought together best divisional and industry practices• Formed Steering Committee run by Senior leaders of all N.A. divisions• Further re-organization completed in May, 2005 resulting in Global IT group lead by Corp CIO and re-
alignment of N.A. group lead by N.A. CIO.
– As a result of NAIT, a large percentage of the IT systems we support, and the IT services we deliver are now the same for all companies.
• The skills required to support our standardized computing infrastructure, and common systems environment, are highly similar for all Constellation companies
– These investments give us the opportunity to improve the productivity of our IT function.• We should be able to leverage the scale economies inherent in a larger, increasingly standardized,
computing environment.
