Transmitter DescriptionNorriseal Series 1210-LTM magnetostrictive leveltransmitters are highly accurate, precise and offera variety of conguration options. The Series1210-LTM may be utilized as a direct insertiontransmitter or externally mounted to a magnetic

level gauge for non-invasive Ievel control. In thegauge mount conguration, the sensor is attachedto the exterior. This allows the transmitter to beinstalled or serviced without removing the gauge

from service. As the oat rises or fallswith the uid, the transmitter provideslevel output. Transmitters are availablewith two-wire loop powered 4-20 mAsignal output(s), or bus powered(Fieldbus) with digital signaloutput(s).

Remote mount electronics areavailable for easy access or hightemperature applications. Sensorprobes are available in a varietyof materials including stainless steeland exotic alloys (Monel, Hastelloy,etc.) All transmitters feature explo-sion-proof dual-compartmentenclosures, integral displays andintrinsically safe electronics.

“Plug-and-Play” electronics allow easy upgrades from HART to Fieldbus without replacing the sen-sor probe. Transmitters offer the latest and mostadvanced software features on the market today,introducing the only registered HART

DD (5.0/6.0) compliant to IEC 61804-2.

Fieldbus Option(1210-LTM300FF)The Series LTM-300FF is available with FoundationFieldbus compliant electronics (ITK-4.6), allowing a

wider range of interoperability with hostmanufacturers. There is no PID control inthe function block. This keeps control inthe nal control element (pump, valve,

etc.) where it belongs. In addition, there is no Link

Active Scheduler (LAS), eliminating interference inexecution or response time. Norriseal level switches are non-inva-sive alarm switches that clamp to thegauge chamber and are magneticallyactuated by the oat through thechamber wall. These switches pro-vide a low-cost, reliable alarm andcontrol action without making addi-

tional cutouts in the vessel. The exter-nal mounting clamps make it easy toadjust the set point or service theswitch anytime without interruptingthe process. They are also easilyadded after gauge installation.

All switches may be wired for risingor falling level and NCB or NO operation. Eachswitch has approximately 1/2 inch deadband toeliminate chattering and all have “break beforemake” action. The MLS-3EX is CSA (ATEX, UL& C-UL consult factory) listed for both the U.S.and Canada.

Series MLS-10EX SwitchesThe Series MLS-10EX-Cis a DPDT cam actuatedswitch used to controlpumps, solenoids, etc.The switch can be set bythe user for rising or

falling activation. The10EX-C meets Class 1,Div. 1 codes and the internal switches are ULapproved. The Series MLS-10EX-R switchesare available for higher inductive load.

InsulationNorriseal recommends insulation when gauges areto be used under extreme temperature conditions.In high-temperature applications, Norriseal canprovide factory installed, removable insulationblankets. The standard blanket (below right) fortemperatures to 500°F/260°C consists of a 2-inch(compressed to 1-inch) thick, 6# Cer-Wool HPenclosed in 3201-2-SS silicone coated berglasscloth. For operating temperatures above 500°F/260°C, fiberglass material (rated to 1100°F/593°C)is included on the contact surface of the blanket.In cryogenic applications (below left), Norriseal canprovide aluminum skinned “foamgIas” insulationwith indicator frost extension to prevent “icing”and ashing for uids with low boiling points.

Heat TracingNorriseal offers a wide variety of both electricaland steam heat tracing options. Heat tracing canbe used for freeze protection or to maintain theprocess temperature of molten materials. Electricaltracing is engineered to customer specificationsand can be provided with controllers. Commontypes are mineral insulated (MI) and self-regulating(SR). Steam tracing of gauges is done by travers-ing four lengths of the gauge with 1/4 inch or 3/8inch stainless steel tubing.

TestingNorriseal performs hydrostatic pressure tests on100% of all level gauges we manufacture at noadditional charge. All materials are supportedby material traceability reports, (MTR) availableupon request. Both NACE-0175 and NACE-103are available as well as dual NACE stamping ifrequired. All peripheral bolts, nuts and fittingsare ANSI B31.1/ B31.3 compliant. In addition,random samples are X-rayed in order to insurequality materials and workmanship. Further testingand documentation are available upon request.This includes: dimensional (as built) drawings,positive material identification (PMI), X-ray anddye penetration.
