Concert Saturday, March 26 Sharp Concert Hall Catlett Music Center 8 p.m. Known as The Master of Improvisation in Persian Classical Music, Hossein Alizadeh is considered one of the most important figures in contemporary Persian music. With traditional training. Alizâdeh has led a solo career, performing both in Iran and throughout North America, Europe and Asia. He was a conductor and soloist in the Iranian National Orchestra of Radio and Television, established the acclaimed Aref Ensemble and worked with the Shayda Ensemble. His album Endless Vision (2006) was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Traditional World Music Album. Pezhham Akhavass is a world class percussionist, Global Music Director of San Francisco World Music Festival, and modern day virtuoso of Persian percussive instruments Tombak and Daf. He is well known for his unique technique and approach to rhythm and has been termed one of the most capable artists of his generation.
