We currently have nine spots available: 7 youth, 2 adults. The registration fee for 2012 contingent is $100 and must be received, with the Philmont application, by June 10th. If it is not received by this date you will not be eligible for participation in this event. There will also be two pre-qualification hikes that are TBD. One coming this Fall and one next Spring. At least one of these hikes must be completed in order to go to Philmont. Applications are available on our website www.scoutsiowa.org or at the Council Service Center. Don’t delay—time is running out to sign up for this awesome high adventure experience.
Scott Seibert, Scout Executive is pleased to announce that Bill Strauss has been selected to serve as the Northeast Iowa Council’s 2013 National Jamboree Contingent Advisor. Strauss was selected by the Scout Executive, Council President, Paul Lewis, and VP Program, Kevin Eipperle. Bill will be in charge of recruiting, training, and motivating a volunteer committee to give leadership to our Council Contingent that will consist of one Troop (36 Scouts, and 4 Leaders). Bill is no stranger to the National Jamboree as he went as a youth in 1981, and his son Ryan attended the 2010 National Jamboree. Bill is a longtime Scouter and supporter of the Northeast Iowa Council where he has served as a volunteer in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Exploring, District Committee, and most recently serving as the Dubuque District Commissioner.
Please congratulate Bill for his commitment to Scouting and serving as Contingent Chair for the 2013 National Jamboree. If you would like more information about the 2013 National Jamboree please email Scott Seibert at [email protected].

We have a great program planned again at Camp Klaus, and we are confident that you and your Scouts will make memories that will last a lifetime! Also please make sure that all of your Cub Scouts are getting to a Day Camp, Resident Camp, or Webelos Camp. Our staff and volunteers have been working hard to ensure that your Cub Scouts have a great time! If your Scouts are not registered for one of our camps you are not delivering the Scouting promise to your Scouts. If you need to get registered please check out www.scoutsiowa.org or call (563)556-4343. If you haven’t noticed, we are working on our web presence through our newly designed website, Facebook page, and Twitter page. Be sure to “LIKE” and “FOLLOW” the Northeast Iowa Council (BSANEIC) on your Facebook and Twitter accounts. Also be looking soon for a new eNewsletter to keep you current with all of the Scout happenings in the Council.
Yours in Scouting,
Memorial/Tribute Fund Words too often do not express the sentiment we feel at the death of a friend. No finer tribute can be paid than to encourage some boy to live the life of a Scout, and thus perpetuate the high principles you admire in your friend. A contribution to the Boy Scout Permanent Endowment Tribute Fund is the perfect tribute. Your gift to the Permanent Endowment Tribute Fund of the Northeast Iowa Council, Boy Scouts of America is: * A gift that will live on forever for the future of
Scouting in the Northeast Iowa Council permanent endowment fund
* A Tribute to the one whom you wish to honor * Promptly acknowledged with a tribute certificate * A convenient way of expressing your feelings * A tax deductible contribution and a private
expression Remembrance can have no finer expression than through a living gift to the Boy Scout Permanent Endowment Tribute Fund. The Permanent Endowment Tribute Fund crosses all lines of religion and wealth. It warms the hearts of all involved. Mail your gift to:

2013 NATIONAL JAMBOREE
HIGHLIGHTS
CREATE WORLD JAMBOREE-STYLE SCOUTING NEIGHBORHOODS • Smaller camping footprint (1,000 acres) than Fort A.P. Hill (5,000 acres). • Maximum distance to arena from any subcamp will be 1.5 miles. • Twenty subcamps organized into five villages. • Much smaller subcamp staff. • Troops will be assigned to subcamps in a manner that promotes the highest level of interaction. • One subcamp will be dedicated to Venturers. • Almost all adult staff will be housed and fed in the adult camp (6,000 to 7,000). • Walking will be the mode of transportation. Personal vehicles will not be allowed in the jamboree footprint. BUILD FLEXIBLE INFRASTRUCTURE TO SUPPORT BOTH THE JAMBOREE AND THE SUMMIT YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS • Permanent camp sites with bathroom facilities. • Underground electricity and fiber optic cables for the entire site. • The first jamboree at The Summit will have more temporary facilities than the future jamborees. • The Summit Center will be designed to function as the visitor experience area. EMBRACE CUTTING-EDGE TECHNOLOGY IN THE JAMBOREE OPERATION MODEL • Jamboree will utilize technology at every possible level from the submission of applications through the duration of the
event. • BSA technology will become part of the jamboree “magic”. EMPLOY A SEAMLESS LOGISTICS AND SUPPLY OPERATION • Jamboree will provide all troop equipment—tents, cooking equipment, etc. • Participants will only bring a duffel (jamboree will supply), sleeping bag, and personal gear. • Food will be pre-packed by troops, with cooking designed for troops rather than patrols. • Commissary will be offsite, with troop food delivered to villages. • Lunches will be issued with breakfast in the morning so that participants will have them wherever they are. DELIVER A WORLD-CLASS PROGRAM—CONSTANTLY ON THE MOVE • Programs will be more diverse, more intense, and have a higher energy level than previous jamborees. • Jamborees will engage participants on a more intense program level in areas of interest to them. • Program will be available from daylight to dark. • Day of Giving Back • New Jamboree Trek program. • Merit badges connected to program areas rather than a “merit badge midway”. • Area shows designed to entertain and inspire youth members.

Pancake Breakfast Success! To all our fellow Arrowman, thank you for your cheerful service at this year’s Mother’s Day Pancake Breakfast. Good weather brought good fortune at Eagle Point Park. The sun and blue skies fueled what seemed to be an unend‐ing line of families waiting for tasty cakes. A special thank you goes out to Aaron Seier and the members of the Pan‐cake Committee. Their hard work and preparation lead to a very successful outcome… Timmeu Lodge raised over $7,000 dollars, valued monies which the Lodge uses to pro‐mote service and camping within our Council.

DELLAYKEE DISTRICT (cont.) Spring Camporee Wrap
It was an eventful and successful Spring camporee this year as over 70 Scouts received the Aviation Merit Badge. For the better part of Saturday, Scouts spent the day at Manchester Airport. They had the opportu-nity to learn about aviation and what it takes to achieve a career in aviation. Scouts also had the opportunity to view the instructors fly and some Scouts even earned a free flight later in the year. We would like to thank again all of the pilots that helped teach the young men in the district about aviation! The district also owes a big thanks to everyone who helped make this event a success, especially, Dave Cabalka and Chris Zehr who took the reigns and set up this great, unique event. Well done!
For more pictures and commentary on the Spring Camporee please visit the Dellaykee District on Facebook at Dellaykee District, BSA.
