In the final class of each semester, Harvard Business School professor Clayton Christenson tells his students about what happened to his own business school classmates in the years following their graduation. As each reunion came and went, despite amazing professional accomplishments, most of them were clearly unhappy. They all began with high hopes and dreams. They all began as good caring people, but they almost all struggled with something; with personal dissatisfaction, family failures, personal struggles, even criminal behavior. So Christenson asks his students how they will apply the theories of business and organizations to their own lives to ensure that: they are happy and successful in their careers their relationships are an enduring source of happiness they live lives of integrity These may seem like simple questions, but they are questions that so many of us never ask, or maybe once asked but have lost track of what we learned. Discussing these questions with his students led to a best-selling book, How Will You Measure Your Life? In a new sermon series beginning October 11th, we are going to explore this same question. Drawing from scriptural teaching, we’ll look at how what we choose and value has far greater impact on our lives than what we achieve and acquire.

Young Adult Events for October 2015

Audubon Park Young Adults is a ministry geared toward people (generally between the ages of 18 and 35) who are in college, just starting their careers, just starting their families… We are committed to being a Christ-centered community with room for exploration and discussion. We don’t profess to have things all figured out or that we have all the answers, but we do try to be companions for the journey.

Join us at one of our young adult gatherings or events or contact Pastor Geoff for more info: [email protected]

IN SYMPATHY:

Our sympathy is with the family and friends of Rob Roberts who passed away on August 26th. His memorial service was held at Hawthorne Man-or on August 31st.

Our sympathy is also with the loved ones of Audrey Bunn, who passed away on September 13th. Her me-morial service was held September 18th at Heritage Chapel.

We will miss these two long time members of our church family.

GROW IN THE

LORD

The more you focus on the Lord and do God’s work, the more satis-faction you will find. It’s that sim-ple! Are you looking for more sat-isfaction in your life? Consider serving our congregation as a Ste-phen Minister. By helping others, you will help God’s kingdom grow—and you will grow, too! To find out more about Stephen Min-istry, contact Pastor Geoff or Bar-bara White (467-1850) or call the church office. Training will begin this fall.

OUR FOOD MINISTRIES

UPDATE:

As many of you know we have been a

soup kitchen since mid-April. We are

offering free breakfast and produce

every Tuesday from 8:00 - 10:30 a.m.

(This is in addition to our regular Food

Bank days)

The numbers look like this:

On non Food Bank days, we are serv-

ing approximately 50-55 people for

breakfast.

When the Food Bank is open we

serve breakfast to approximately 75-

100 people.

Where does the food come from, you

ask? We are partnering with 2nd

Harvest, Feed Spokane, Safeway and

donations for this to happen.

Our monthly Free Community Meal

will be offered Saturday, September

26th from Noon - 2 p.m. We will be

serving a yummy chicken dish...this is

open to all in our community!

The soup kitchen volunteers are plan-

ning on serving a meal to the District

meeting to be held here on October

17th.
