PROGRAMRICHARD J. MIRON,

DDS, BMSC, MSC, PhD, DMDDr. Richard Miron is currently lead educator and researcher at Advanced PRF Education and an Adjunct Visiting Faculty in the department of Periodontology in Bern, Switzerland where he completed his PhD studies since 2009. He has currently published over 180 peer-re-viewed articles and lectures internationally on many topics relating to growth factors, bone biomaterials and guided bone regeneration. He has recently been awarded many recent international prizes in dentistry and is widely considered as one of the top contributors to

implant dentistry having won the ITI Andre Schroeder Prize, the IADR Young Investigator of the Year in the field of Implant Dentistry. He has written 2 best-selling textbooks widely distributed in regenerative dentistry including his most recent in 2019 titled: “Next Generation Biomaterials for Bone and Periodontal Regeneration” and a 2nd in 2017 titled: “Platelet Rich Fibrin in Regenerative Dentistry: From Biological Background to Clinical Indications”.

JODI DEMING, RDHJodi started practice as a dental hygienist in 1988. In the early 1990’s frus-trated with the understanding of the etiology of periodontal disease became involved with biofilm research. At that time the term was rarely used in den-tistry except in the context of dental unit waterlines. As a clinical research associ-ate Jodi was involved with biofilm growth and therapeutic product development evaluating the effect on dental biofilms. Understanding biofilms, she developed a passion about non-surgical therapy, root morphology, and the results of thorough periodontal debridement. Jodi has worked 28 years mastering non-surgical periodontal therapy tech-

niques and procedures. She currently works in both periodontic and prosthodontic practices. Jodi is a national and interna-tional educator, clinician, and lecturer. She has pre-sented over a 150 lectures and workshops on advanced integration of ultrasonic and hand instrumentation. Jodi has served as adjunct faculty at the University of Southern California, School of Dentistry, Department of Dental Hygiene and at Spear Education. She is a Friends of Hu-Friedy Thought Leader valued for her involvement with biofilm research, instrument development and training. She is nationally recognized as an expert in endoscope and ultrasonic instrumentation.

HEATHER KELLEY, RDH, MSDHHeather is currently the Professional Relations Manager for TePe Oral Health Care, Inc. She received her Master of Science in dental hygiene from Idaho State University and Bachelor of Science in dental hygiene from Indiana University. She has worked ten years clinically as a hygienist in both periodontal and general practices. Heather has been adjunct faculty at both Pasadena Community College and Pacific University instructing both clinically and in didactic. She has served and supported the American Dental Hygienists’ Association at both the state and local levels as Treasurer, Trustee, and as a delegate. Heather has presented CE

lectures related to homecare and advocacy for underserved populations. She is passionate about dental homecare and developing patient responsibility in managing their personal oral and overall health.

TODD GOLDMANTodd Goldman is President of Goldman Association Management. He has worked within the dental, publishing and meeting fields for over 27 years. He has managed numerous sales organizations and trained more than 100 salespeople during his career. His background in sales is second to very few. His sales volume totals in the hundreds of millions and has sold on a corporate and individual level. Mr. Goldman has an in-depth knowledge of the sales process, but more important is his ability to train both salespeople and non-salespeople. With his intimate knowledge of the dental field, he is able to work with dental staff mem-bers, including the dentists, to improve their sales knowledge and ability to enhance treat-

ment acceptance. His current and past clients include the Who’s Who of dentistry: The Academy of General Dentistry, The Chicago Dental Society, The AACD, The Western Society of Periodontology, The American Academy of Periodontology and about a dozen more.

Understanding Platelet Rich Fibrin: From Biological Backgroundto Clinical IndicationsRichard J. Miron, DDS, BMSC, MSc, PhD, DMD Course Description: The use of platelet concentrates has had a long-history of use in various fields of medicine as an autologous source of growth factors fabricated utilizing centrifugation of blood under various conditions. While platelet rich plasma (PRP) was proposed as a first-generation platelet concentrate over 3 decades ago, over the past 10 years, platelet rich fibrin (PRF) has seen a steady increase in utilization for a variety of medical procedures due to its lack of anti-coagulation factors favoring fibrin clot formation and faster wound healing. More recently, the development of a liquid PRF provides a new formulation of liquid PRF without using anti-coagulation factors that may specifically be combined with currently available bone biomaterials favoring particle stability, angiogenesis and tissue integration. This talk aims to highlight the recent advancements made with respect to the newest formulations of platelet concentrates including recent developments in horizontal centrifugation and liquid concentrated-PRF to further speed wound healing and tissue regeneration for various clinical indications faced in routine daily dental practice.Learning Objectives:• Provide the biological background and scientific rationale for why platelet concentrates speed wound healing• Introduce new protocols using horizontal centrifugation• Provide clinical indications when, where and why to use PRF (membranes and liquid) in regenerative dentistry and facial esthetics

Improve Your Quality of Hygiene CareJodi Deming, RDH Course Description:Learn how to do what you have thought was impossible. Gain time in your hygiene appointment without compromising but even improving your quality of care. • Utilization of air polishing and piezoelectric scaling equipment• Application of supra and subgingival air polishing techniques• Characteristics and application for various air polishing powders• Implementation of air polishing therapy into your treatment protocol Participants will have a sense of assurance and confidence in their approach to subgingival biofilm control being effective, efficient and safe.Learning Objectives: • Understand biofilm and it’s management.• Understanding the new disease model. • Polymicrobial Symbiotic and Dysbiosis- Beyond the red complex.

Achieving Patient Compliance in Home Care Heather Kelley, RDH, MSDHCourse Description: Achieving optimal oral health for our periodontally involved patients is not just the practitioner’s job, but we must also depend on our patient’s oral home care routines and compliance. This course will discuss strategies for deciding continuing care intervals based on utilizing assessments appropriately, considering the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) guidelines of periodontal classification, and understanding the micro-biome of the oral cavity. After we have decided how often we will see our patients, how will we achieve patient compliance? Next we will discuss oral hygiene instruction related to how we administer the instruction, how the patient retains the information, and how we document. It makes a difference. Lastly, not every patient is the same, so we must tailor the home care regimen recommendations. Based on research and specific patient needs, we will discuss what types of modalities to recommend. Learning Objectives:• Identify appropriate continuing care intervals • Strategize an effective approach to professional oral hygiene instruction• Deliver individualized home care recommendations based on patient needs

Getting Better Case AcceptanceTodd GoldmanCourse Description:Sales are easily won and lost based on the conversations you and your sellers have with your patients. The common thought process is that sellers make mistakes along the way – but that is too easy to diagnose. More often mistakes are made before the sales process really starts. How much do you know about your patients? How much time do you actually spend getting to understand what your patient really wants? And are you leaving the most crucial aspect, THE CLOSE, to people who have never even been trained to sell…or who may not even like to sell. Patients aren’t like they were 20, 30 or even 10 years ago. They are wiser and more educated. The days of blind treatment acceptance from an expert in a white lab coat are long gone. So even after putting in place a great marketing campaign, a gorgeous and informative website, do you still find that you may not be converting as many treatment plans as you hoped?Learning Objectives:• Learn the steps, strategies and tactics that are the foundation of successful selling• Learn the key selling skills your dental team needs to get more patient compliance and treatment acceptance
