SMSU Volleyball finished with a 26-10 overall record in 2014 and won the NCAA Central Region for the first time! The Mustangs advanced to the NCAA Division II National Championship match for the first time in school history. Distinctive Features: Campers are grouped according to skill and ability levels. Along with the training, there will be break activities to give campers opportunities to meet new friends and enjoy their experience here at SMSU. All rooms are air- conditioned. Every camper will receive a camp t-shirt and volleyball to keep. What to Bring: Plenty of playing clothes, toiletries, socks, volleyball shoes, and kneepads. It is also recommended that campers who are staying in the dorms bring their own linens, alarm clock, towels, pillows, blankets, and a swim suit. This camp is for experienced players who are seriousabout wanting to take their game to a new level. This camp is a great opportunity for young players to getintroduced to the game of volleyball. Each student willbe given basic instruction geared toward their level ofexperience. In addition to learning the skills there will begames and competition daily.

SKILLS & POSITION CAMPSThese camps are designed to offer a balance of trainingbetween the general skills of the game, and training onthe skills for each specific position. In addition to skilland position training, both camps will include contestsand team competition.

Attacker training will focus on all aspects ofattacking including approach, armswing, shot selection,off-speed and positionspecific attacks. Therewill also be work onblocking as well.

Setter training willfocus on all aspects ofsetting from basicfootwork, form andtechnique to advancedconcepts includingattacking, deception,and emergency skills.

Libero training strivesto create master ball-handlers. We will cover every firstcontact skill from basic passing and setting form toemergency defensive skills like overhand digging,sprawls and extensions.

Team Instructional camp is in its eleventh year. Thiscamp has been a huge hit with teams in the past, andcoaches speak very highly of it. Teams in attendancehave included the 2009, 2011, 2012 & 2013 MinnesotaClass AA State Champion and 2014 State Runners-UpMarshall Tigers, the 2012 State TournamentParticipants Owatonna Huskies, and the 2010 Class AARunners-up Hutchinson Tigers. The camp includes skilland position training, team practices run by the SMSUcamp staff, and scrimmage sessions during the day. Theevening session has also proven to be very popular,offering two hours of additional team competition onMonday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Coaches arewelcome to attend and assist in training free of charge.Help start your 2015 season on the right foot by being apart of this great camp!
