On Sunday March 23rd 2014,

the science research group

led by our science teacher Ronit

Rozenbush which includes:

Elad Somech , Roni Stern, Noa

Icigzon, Lilach Shifrut and Itay

Kerret went to Rehovot

Witzman Institute for a science

competition.

We showed which fruit has the

highest value of Vitamin C by

showing a special process of

titration which showed the

amount of Vitamin C in each

fruit. The fruits we tested were:

oranges, lemons, tomatoes,

passion fruit and bell peppers.

There were about 70 schools

which presented their

research projects.

Experimenting in Science Elad Somech and Roi Levinrad

Testing the fruit before the

competition

A Visit to Beit Hatfutsot Sahar Toledano and Roi Levinrad

The results were that the bell

peppers had the most Vitamin C

in it. There were about 70

schools which presented their

research projects.

Our favorite project was the

―Wet Finger‖. It was a wet

sponge instead of licking your

finger to turn pages in a book.

You can put your finger on the

wet sponge and turn pages with

the ―Wet Finger‖.

We hope to proceed to the

national competition.

Wish us good luck!

On the 10th of March, we went

to Beit Hatfutsot with Galit

Levy’s interest group and with

the senior citizens of our town.

We went there because we

wanted to unite the students

from fifth and sixth grades, but

mostly because we wanted to

unite the students with the

senior citizens of our town. During the tour we learned many new things and saw models of all kinds of synagogues from all over the world. We met a Moroccan woman who told us about her life and about all kinds of Moroccan foods and funny and

interesting stories. We enjoyed the tour very much. It was a lot of fun and very interesting.

from school to school and country to

we are going to tell you about our

moves from one place to another.

My name is Lihi and I moved from Israel to the

USA when I was in the 3rd

grade.

It was very hard for me to leave my family and

friends because I was very close to them.

We moved to California which is one of the

states in the USA, and lived in a house next to

our school.

On the first day of school I didn’t know anybody,

but on the second week of school I met a lot of

friends and it was fun. When I had to go back to

Israel it was very hard for me because I didn’t

want to leave my ―new‖ friends. Some of my

friends that their families lived in Israel told me

that when they come to visit their families they

will come to visit me to.

And now I live here and it’s a lot of fun to live

here. I met many new friends.

My name is Noa and I moved from Sha’arey

Tikva to Rosh Ha’ayin and now I am learning in

"Nofim" School. In the school there are many

activities; a meeting with an author Ofra Galbert

Avny, a meeting with the Chief of Staff, Purim

costume contest and many more.

We are Roni and Tal. We moved from ―Inbalim‖

school to ―Nofim‖ school when we were in the 4th

grade because the school closed down. Some of

the pupils moved to ―Neve-Daliya‖ school and

some to ―Nofim‖ school. We love it here very

much. In ―Nofim‖ school there are a lot of

activities, excellent teachers and very good

friends. We still miss ―Inbalim‖ school, because

we miss many of the activities; ―Shishi Shir‖ and

―Pina Metuka‖ and our good friends and

teachers.

“Can You Hear My Voice” Lior Ezer and Ido Tzemach

As part of our yearly subject ―The other is like me‖ grades

5-6 went to see the show ―Can You Hear My Voice‖. The

show is about a deaf girl that wants to go to an art school

but her dad doesn’t want her to go to the art school

because she will not be like the others. During the show

she goes through a journey and finds a way to be like the

others and they accept her as she is.

We enjoyed the show very much and recommend that

you go see it.

On the 16th of June the 6th graders went to ―Mini Israel‖ to play a fun game and have their graduation ceremony. The game was called ―Cross Mini Israel‖. At the graduation show we talked about the ―Love to Israel‖. We really enjoyed the game, the graduation show and ceremony. We asked our teachers and friends what they thought about the game and the show. Here are their words: Our Teachers said: Iris Ishai: ―My feet hurt because of the heels of my shoes but other than that the children were amazing,

they were outstanding, every-thing was just perfect, the sound and the microphones brought out the best of them.‖ Dorit Butta: ―The show was amazing and the kids were amazing.‖ Sari Cohen: ―The show was very exciting and the kids were wonderful.

Our friends said: Lilach 6/B: ―The game was really fun, the show was really nice. I’m sad it’s over.‖ Amber 6/C: ―It was really fun playing at the show and the game was really fun, too.‖ Lior 6/B: The game was really fun and I was very excited. The show was very exciting too.‖ Or 6/A: ―The show was really

special, not like the other graduation parties I’ve seen. The game was really fun and interesting‖

For a week 'Nofim' school

became a place of health and

exercise. Every day was full of

different activities for the

pupils and on the last day the

parents were invited to school.

Pupils went to workshops and

lectures about health subjects

and physical activities, given

by doctors and health

specialists.

Every morning started with a

"Zumba" lesson or Yoga.

There were Sports Day with

various sports activities for the

pupils.

The children learned about the

health of the body and teeth

and what to do to keep a

healthy body. Activities were

varied and interesting.

Laughter Workshop, shows,

musical activities- are only part

of the many things that

happened that week.

On the last day there was a

show presented by the

teachers and organized by the

Science teacher- Ilana and the

Physical Education teacher

Galit. The teachers

demonstrated various

physical activities and other

things related to physical

health.

Finally, after a week like this,

full of physical activities, sports

and health issues, we can

truly understand the phrase:

"A healthy mind in a healthy

body"!

Ra’aya telling her story

The Holocaust Day was on

the 28th of April. At the

beginning of the morning, all

the pupils and teachers were at

the

ceremony. At the ceremony,

we heard the story of Ra'aya, a

retired teacher who told us

about her uncles and about

how they were at the

Holocaust. She was very sad

because they were murdered

by the Nazis.

At the end of the ceremony,

we sang the ―Tikva‖ and we

went back to our classes.

About my family in the

Holocaust:

When I was 10 years old, I

wanted to learn about my

family during the Holocaust.

I searched the database of

―Yad Vashem‖ for my

mother’s last name and

her origin. I found a

name of a 9 year old

girl from my family who

was murdered by the

Nazis.
