INTRODUCTION This document provides information about new features, system requirements, known issues, fixed issues, and metadata updates for NoetixViews 6.2 for Oracle E-Business Suite.

WHAT’S NEW? The additions and improvements to NoetixViews 6.2 for Oracle E-Business Suite are as follows:

Noetix announces GA version of views for Project Management.

In Version 6.2, NoetixViews for Oracle Project Management has been accorded the general availability (GA) status. Previously available as a custom solution, the module has been enhanced with the addition of views for greater functional coverage than before. A total of 17 views are available in the subject areas of workplans, resources, budgets, progress management, issue management, schedules, forecasts, and project sets. Additionally, the new PROJECT_MANAGEMENT role includes the PA_All_Expenditure_Items, PA_Projects, and PA_Tasks views, which are also available through the larger views module for Oracle Projects. Security for the global form of the views for Project Management can be administered through the Operating Unit tab of the <Noetix query user> Properties dialog box. For a list of the new views and answers, see the NoetixViews for Oracle Projects section in this document. For more information, see the Noetix Help File and the NoetixViews for Oracle E-Business Suite User Guide.

Some views and columns that were previously available through the custom solution have now been made obsolete and replaced by new views and columns. For information about these replacements and other changes, see Answer 1860 on the Noetix online knowledge base.

NoetixViews for Cash Management introduced.

Noetix has introduced a module of views for Oracle Cash Management. The module provides coverage for the subject areas of banks, bank statements, cash transfers, and cash flows. The new CASH_MANAGEMENT role includes four new views developed expressly for support of Cash Management. Additionally, the AP_Bank_Accounts, AP_Checks, AP_Invoice_Checks, AR_Cash_Receipts, and AR_Cash_Receipts_Combined views have been made available through the role and augmented with new answers for support of Cash Management. For a list of the new views and answers, see the NoetixViews for Oracle Cash Management, NoetixViews for Oracle Payables, and NoetixViews for Oracle Receivables sections in this document. Segment values for code combinations can now be retrieved in real time.

An option for retrieving new or modified code combinations in real time has been introduced in the global views. When activated, the no data cache option changes the source of the segment values to the code combination tables in the Oracle database instead of the key flexfield data cache of NoetixViews. Consequently, transactions using new or modified code combinations can be queried through the global views without any data latency. However, the corresponding segment descriptions are not updated in real time and must be refreshed through the previously available Concurrent Manager programs. The no data cache option is available for only some key flexfields. For more information about this feature, see the NoetixViews for Oracle E-Business Suite Administrator Guide.

NoetixViews for Work in Process supports flow manufacturing.

In version 6.2, six WIP% views have been modified for support of the flow manufacturing functionality in Oracle Work in Process. This support will be in addition to the existing support for discrete and lot-based jobs, maintenance jobs, and repetitive schedules. Consequently, additional records are returned by the views. The enhanced views are as follows:

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS The system requirements for NoetixViews 6.2 for Oracle E-Business Suite are as follows:

• Oracle E-Business Suite 12.1.3, 12.1.2, 12.1.1, 12.0.6, or 11.5.10.2abc • Oracle Database 11.2, 11.1, or 10.2 with compatible client applicationsde • ASCII and UTF-8 character sets (Non-Western, European multi-byte character sets are not

supported) • Tablespace with a minimum size of 500 MB with the AUTOEXTEND feature enabled

(dependent on your configuration of NoetixViews and Oracle E-Business Suite)

The system requirements for generation of views through the NoetixViews for Oracle E-Business Suite Administrator (NoetixViews Administrator) and scripts are as follows:

Operating system: Windows 7f, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2008g, Windows XP, UNIX, or Linux

RAM: Minimum 128 MB; recommended 512 MB

Free disk space: 30 MB for the NoetixViews Administrator; 200 MB to 1 GB for each NoetixViews instance (dependent on modules purchased and number of organizations)

Client application: SQL*Loader (version 11.2, 11.1, 10.2, or 9.2), SQL*Net (version 11.2, 11.1, or 10.2), and SQL*Plus (version 11.2, 11.1, or 10.2)h

Note: Ensure that you have the latest service packs and updates for these products.

a All the general availability (GA) versions of Noetix modules except those for Oracle Grants Proposal and Oracle Project Manufacturing support Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 and later.

b For Oracle E-Business Suite 12 and later, NoetixViews 6.2 supports Oracle HRMS Release Update Pack 8. For Oracle E-Business Suite 11.5.10.2, NoetixViews 6.2 supports Oracle HRMS Family Pack K Rollup 3.

c NoetixViews for Oracle Project Management requires Oracle Project Management Family Pack M and Release Update Pack 3.

d NoetixViews supports only those combinations of Oracle E-Business Suite and Oracle Database versions that are recommended by Oracle Corporation.

e Noetix recommends that the client applications and database be of the same version so that compatibility-related issues are avoided.

f Windows 7 is supported in the 32-bit and 64-bit versions.

g Windows Server 2008 is supported in the 32-bit and 64-bit versions.

h In the Windows environment, only 32-bit versions of Oracle client applications are supported.



INSTALLING AND UPGRADING For instructions on installing, upgrading, or uninstalling the product, see the NoetixViews for Oracle E-Business Suite Administrator Guide.

To generate Noetix views, see "Generation of Views" in the administrator guide. To regenerate Noetix views, see "Regeneration of Views".

Ensure that your environment meets the system requirements for version 6.2 of NoetixViews for Oracle E-Business Suite.

Back up your environment before proceeding with the upgrade. Do not uninstall NoetixViews before upgrading it.

If you are upgrading NoetixViews to version 6.2 from versions prior to 5.8.7, you must first upgrade the product to version 5.8.7 and then to version 6.2.

If you are using NoetixViews for Oracle Payroll, you must upgrade the Noetix Payroll Data Mart to version 5.2, which is shipped with NoetixViews 6.2 for Oracle E-Business Suite. The data mart can be upgraded to the present version from versions 5.1, 5.0, 4.x, and 3.x. For instructions, see "Upgrade Noetix Payroll Data Mart" in "Module-Specific Information" in the administrator guide.

KNOWN ISSUES For the latest information on known issues for this release, see the Noetix online knowledge base.

The known issues in NoetixViews 6.2 for Oracle E-Business Suite are as follows:

Performance of Noetix views affected on Oracle Database 10g.

After Oracle Database is upgraded to version 10g, the performance of Noetix views and queries that are built on these views may deteriorate, especially when the number of records to be returned is huge and the views for Oracle Receivables are used. The degradation of performance is because of changes that have been made to the cost-based optimizer, which in turn increase the number of full table scans that are performed. For a workaround, the working of the cost-based optimizer can be modified at the session or query level. For more information about the workaround, see Answer ID 1748 on the Noetix online knowledge base.

Stage 2 stops responding.

During Stage 2, when grants are sought for objects that have been locked by other processes, NoetixViews will stop responding. In such situations, if Stage 2 is terminated manually, ORA-3113 error messages will be logged. If the grant requests time out, ORA-0421 error messages will be logged.

Error in generating .hlp file on Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista.

While generating the Noetix Help File in Microsoft WinHelp format on a computer running Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, or Windows Vista, an error message similar to the following is displayed: "HC4008: Warning: Cannot file or load FTSRCH.DLL. Hall compression turned off". For a workaround to this issue, see Microsoft Support article 917607.

Data not returned if security rule not enabled in Oracle E-Business Suite.

When a security rule is not enabled for an Accounting Flexfield segment in Oracle E-Business Suite, the Per Ledger option (for Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 and later) or Per Set of Books option (for Oracle E-Business Suite versions prior to Release 12) is selected in the Select enforcement option list on the Security Rules tab of the <Noetix query user> Properties dialog box, and the security rule is applied for a Noetix query user, no data is returned for the Noetix query user in Business Intelligence (BI) tools.

This issue will be fixed in a future release.

i_create_sm_users.sql fails when not run from NOETIX_SYS user directory.

Noetix query users are not generated when the i_create_sm_users.sql script is run from a directory other than the required Noetix System Administration User (NOETIX_SYS user) directory. For a workaround, first run iconnect.sql, which will create tconnect.sql. Then, run i_create_sm_users.sql.

Item category key flexfield columns may return data for irrelevant segments.

For the standard and Cross Operations Extension (XOP) forms of the following views, the respective columns for the Item Categories key flexfield may return information for segments pertaining to irrelevant structures:

Error about check constraint logged.

When Noetix views are generated or regenerated or when preupd.sql is run, if there are more than 1,000 Noetix roles, an error message similar to the following is logged: "ORA-02290: check constraint (…) violated". Contact Noetix Technical Support for a workaround.

Some prompts accept incorrect values during scripts-based generation.

During the scripts-based generation, the prompts that require "Y" or "N" as input values also accept other values. With respect to the prompts for view forms, if the input value for a prompt starts with "Y", the generation will continue successfully, and "Y" will be accepted instead of the incorrect values for the remaining prompts. For a workaround, run the scripts anew using the correct input values. This issue will be fixed in a future release.

Placeholder information not rendered in HTML Help format of help file.

Angle brackets (< >) as well as the information between them do not appear in the HTML Help format of the Noetix Help File. The Microsoft WinHelp (.chm) and Query Tool Help formats are not affected by this issue. Typically, angle brackets are used in the business metadata for placeholder information pertaining to key and descriptive flexfields.

FIXED ISSUES The fixed issues in NoetixViews 6.2 for Oracle E-Business Suite are as follows:

Accounting Flexfield security rules settings retained, enforced correctly.

If only the standard and Cross Operations Extension (XOP) forms of the views were available, the Accounting Flexfield security rules settings were not retained by the Security Manager and not enforced for a Noetix query user. Consequently, no data was returned in a Business Intelligence (BI) tool.

Refresh Security feature available in NoetixViews Administrator.

In an instance that included only the standard and XOP forms of the views that return secured data for the Accounting Flexfield, the Refresh Security icon was not available on the toolbar of the NoetixViews Administrator. The Refresh Security command was also unavailable on the Tools menu.

Pre-Update Script command available in NoetixViews Administrator.

After NoetixViews was upgraded, the command was not available in the Tools menu of the NoetixViews Administrator.

Concurrent Manager successfully activates incremental refresh process.

When NoetixViews was upgraded to version 6.1, and the Enable Incremental Refresh-(<NOETIX_SYS>[UID-<NOETIX_SYS internal identifier>])Concurrent Manager job was run to activate the incremental refresh process for the key flexfield data cache tables, error messages similar to the following were logged:

• ORA-06550: line 1, column 37: PLS-00302: component 'ENBL_INCR' must be declared • ORA-06550: line 1, column 7: PL/SQL: Statement ignored

Stage 2 successful during regeneration of views.

During Stage 2, grants were sought to be obtained for all objects, including those objects to which access had already been granted. If these objects were being used by other processes, NoetixViews appeared to stop responding. In such situations, if Stage 2 was terminated manually, ORA-3113 error messages were logged. If the grant requests timed out, ORA-0421 error messages were logged. Now, grants will not be obtained for objects again if the grants were obtained previously.

Pre-update process runs successfully.

On account of a problem with preupd.sql, when NoetixViews was upgraded to version 6.1, the following error was logged: "ORA-00920: invalid relational operator".

Type A, Type R user names having % sign recognized by Security Manager.

When a Noetix query user of the Oracle E-Business Suite Authenticated User (Type A) or Oracle E-Business Suite Authenticated Responsibility (Type R) type was added through the Security Manager dialog box, and if the user’s name contained the percent (%) sign, the NoetixViews Administrator closed unexpectedly.

Refresh security process optimized.

When there were changes to the settings in Oracle E-Business Suite, and the refresh security process was run, all the settings were repopulated in the security data cache. Now, only the modified settings will be updated.

Security Manager retains custom assignment of security rules.

For a Noetix query user of the Oracle E-Business Suite Authenticated User (Type A) type, when the Per Ledger option (for Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 and later) or Per Set of Books option (for Oracle E-Business Suite versions prior to Release 12) was selected in the Select enforcement option list on the Security Rules tab of the <Noetix query user> Properties dialog box, the Accounting Flexfield security rules assigned were not retained. In the case of Noetix query users of the Oracle E-Business Suite Authenticated Responsibility (Type R) and Database User (Type U) types, error messages were also displayed. This issue occurred especially when the All Rows option was previously selected in the Select enforcement option list.

BI tool user names exceeding 30 characters supported in Security Manager.

When a BI tool user whose name exceeded 30 characters was registered in the Security Manager, an error message similar to the following was displayed:

BI tool user '<user name>' could not be registered.

ORA-12899: value too large for column "<schema>". "N_SECURITY_MGR_USERS". "USER_NAME" (actual: <user name length>, maximum: 30)

ORA-06512: at "<schema>".

The character limit for BI tool user names has been increased to 100.

NOETIX_SYS password cannot be reset during Stage 1.

Previously, the install1.sql script for Stage 1 could be rerun if the password or tablespace for a NOETIX_SYS user needed to be changed. If the PASSWORD_REUSE_TIME and PASSWORD_REUSE_MAX database parameters were in use, and if the newly specified password was invalid according to these parameters, the script would stop responding. Now, the NOETIX_SYS password can no longer be reset during Stage 1 and must be changed outside NoetixViews.

Key flexfield data cache tables updated successfully.

When the Concurrent Manager programs for full or incremental refresh of the key flexfield data cache tables were run, error messages similar to the following were displayed: "…insufficient privilege to access object NOETIX_SYS.N_KFF_SYS_ITEM_PKG".

Edit BI Tool dialog box in Security Manager displays correct label.

In the Edit BI Tool dialog box of the Security Manager, when the settings for an added instance of BusinessObjects were modified, the label for the Server Name box was incorrectly displayed as "BI Tool URL".

NOETIXVIEWS FOR ORACLE ADVANCED SUPPLY CHAIN PLANNING This section lists the known issues for Oracle Advanced Supply Chain Planning.

Known Issues The known issue in the views for Advanced Supply Chain Planning is as follows:

MSC% views return incorrect data for Oracle E-Business Suite 12.1.3.

When Oracle Rapid Planning is used in Oracle E-Business Suite 12.1.3, Advanced Supply Chain Planning views return incorrect data.

This issue will be fixed in a future release.

NOETIXVIEWS FOR ORACLE ASSETS This section lists the known issues for Oracle Assets.

Known Issues The known issue in the views for Assets is as follows:

Views for Assets return multiple records.

When the Merge Mass Additions and Split Mass Additions processes are performed on invoice distribution lines to create combined and multiple assets and adjust costs in the existing assets, the FA_Asset_Invoices, FA_GL_Invoice_Trans_Je, and FA_Invoice_Trx_SLA_GL_Je views return multiple records.

NOETIXVIEWS FOR ORACLE BILL OF MATERIALS This section lists the known issues for Oracle Bills Of Material.

Known Issues The known issues in the views for Bills Of Material are as follows:

BOM_Current_Summary has performance issues.

The view has performance-related issues and takes a long time to return records. For more information, contact Noetix Technical Support.

Resource_Unit_Cost column in BOM_Resources returns incorrect information.

The column displays incorrect information for the Resource, Material Overhead, and Overhead cost elements. For a workaround for the Resource cost element, contact Noetix Technical Support. This issue will be fixed in a future release.

NOETIXVIEWS FOR ORACLE CASH MANAGEMENT This section lists the new views and new answers for Oracle Cash Management.

New Views The following views have been developed for Cash Management:

CE_Bank_Stmt_Line_Dtls

This view returns information about bank statement lines for accounts. This information was supplied in the Bank Statement Lines window of Cash Management. A record is returned for each combination of a bank account number, bank name, bank statement number, and statement line number.

CE_Cash_Flow_Details

The view returns information about cash transactions among two bank accounts. This information is displayed on the General Information, Bank Account, Clearing Information, and Accounting Information sections in the Cashflows page of Cash Management. A record is returned for each cash flow number.

CE_Cash_Transfers

This view returns the information about cash transfers among banks within or across legal entities. This information was supplied in the Bank Account Transfers page of Cash Management. A record is returned for each combination of a source bank account name, destination bank account name, and transfer number.

CE_Reconciliation_Lines

Known Issues The known issues in the views for Order Management are as follows:

Views for Order Management have performance problems.

Some Noetix views for Order Management have performance-related problems. Order statuses are retrieved from the WF_ITEM_ACTIVITY STATUSES and WF_PROCESS_ACTIVITIES tables; the volume and distribution of data in these tables affect performance of these Noetix views. Sometimes, order statuses are retrieved from these tables repeatedly, and retrieval of each order status requires a separate join to Oracle Workflow tables.

The affected views are OE_Lines, OE_Order_Territories, and OE_Orders; OE_Order_Line_Status and OE_Order_Status may also be affected.

Try one of the following workarounds:

• Gather statistics for the ONT schema, using a sample size ranging from 30 to 51 percent. • Purge obsolete information from the Workflow tables, as recommended by Oracle. These

tables can become quite large, and their size directly affects performance of the views. For troubleshooting issues pertaining to workflow data growth, see Note 298550.1 on My Oracle Support.

• Substitute the Workflow tables used by the affected views with a materialized view or an equivalent data mart view.

• Use the OE_Lines_Essentials, OE_Order_Terr_Essentials, and OE_Orders_Essentials views respectively in place of the OE_Lines, OE_Order_Territories, and OE_Orders views.

• Contact Noetix Technical Support for billable customizations of the affected views so that they do not use the order-status columns (sourced from the Workflow tables).

PAY_Accruals does not support DML statements in formulas.

To show correct results for accrual plans, the PAY_Accruals view uses Payroll formulas that have been defined for each benefit accrual plan. Users can customize these formulas according to business needs. However, if customization involves the use of Data Manipulation Language (DML) statements (such as inserts, updates, or deletes), the view will malfunction. The PAY_Accruals view is designed to use only formulas without DML statements.

For a solution, consider not altering the formulas and instead relocating DML statements elsewhere. Otherwise, contact Noetix Technical Support to request a quote for a billable customization that alters the Noetix Payroll Data Mart and the PAY_Accruals view for support of customized formulas.
