ElectronicsFujikura Develops USB 3.1 Type-C Connector and Receives USB Certification

Fujikura has developed USB 3.1 Type-C connectors and received the USB certification. USB 3.1 Type-C is a new standard for connectors that transmit data at 10 Gbps -- twice as fast as a currently-used USB connector. These

connectors have a reversible structure so that users can just insert the plug into the receptacle without caring which side of it faces up. Our new products are expected to be used in a wide variety of electronics as an standard interface.

Fujikura has developed a BNC (75Ω) coaxial connector, which allows the transmission of uncompressed 4k image data. This connector is compliant with the standard for signal transmission between broadcasting devices, 12G-SDI (serial digital interface). The new connector has the following features:1. Industry's highest frequency characteristics (Fig. 1) 2. Structure (Fig. 2) suitable for automatic mounting (through-hole reflow)Changing flow soldering after manually fixing with screws to automatic mounting contributes to reducing man-hours for customers.

Electronics Ultra-thin 0.3 mm Heat Pipe

As small mobile devices such as smartphones grow more sophisticated, they require good heat dissipation. To address this issue, an increasing number of mobile devices uses heat pipes with excellent heat dissipating characteristics. On the other hand, in recent years, there has been a growing demand for a thinner product. For smartphone use, specifically, heat pipes are required to save space by 0.1 mm unit, and so we have developed an ultra-thin heat pipe with 0.3 mm thickness for mass production. This product maintains high heat dissipation performance while achieving a reduction in thickness due to the new internal structure. We will keep striving to develop products to meet customer needs.

Fujikura Exhibits at FTTH APAC Conference 2017 (India)

Telecommu-nication

FTTH Asia Pacific Conference 2017 (sponsored by FTTH Council Asia Pacific) was held in New Delhi, India from April 25 to 26.This exhibition was the largest among the past 12 exhibitions, gathering about 400 participants from 36 countries. Fujikura put optical communication network related products such as optical fiber fusion splicers, optical connectors for on-site assembly on display at our booth. We also used videos and posters for the promotion of FTTH solutions to attract visitors from each country as well as the host country, India. In India, because the use of social networking services has exploded in rural areas as well as in cities, constructing an optical fiber network to deal with the situation is an urgent task.Fujikura, as one of the founders and a platinum member of FTTH Council APAC, intends to focus on expanding the sales of FTTH technology developed in Japan into the Asia

Pacific market. We will make continued efforts to contribute to the social development of the region through the building of infrastructure.

Mini-branch lineup Product overview

[email protected] Dia Cable Ltd.

In June 2017, Fujikura Dia Cable Ltd. will start selling Mini Branch, a cable with prefabricated branches for lighting trunk lines and power trunk lines. The major feature of Mini Branch is that the outer diameter of cables in a bundle with this product was reduced by a maximum of 15% by miniaturizing the product to one of the industry's smallest. This allows easy passing of cables through a hole in installing them in a building or apartment and thus results

in an improvement in workability. In addition, in some improvement work such as the renovation of houses, even with a larger conductor size due to higher power consumption according to the spread of all-electric homes, existing cable holes can be used. The Mini Branch lineup includes products in a combination of a trunk line conductor size from 38 to 150 mm2 and branch line conductor size from 5.5 to 22 mm2, as shown in the table below.
