GEORGES ROAD PRIMARY SCHOOL NO. 4666 Knowledge, Service, HappinessWeek 7 Term 2—Thursday, June 6th 2019 Website: www.stgeorges.vic.edu.au Grade 1 Kyabram Fauna Park visit: in very wintery condions our Grade 1s headed off to Kyabram last Friday to visit the Fauna Park. The students have been learning about nave Australian animals . They were able to see nave animals in a natural habitat. They visited the educaon centre where they were able to have some hands on experiences. It was an outstanding learning opportunity. Responsible Pet Ownership program: this week several classes took part in the Responsible Pet Program. Students learnt how to interact with and care for dogs through an interacve session. Grade 5 IMAX Museum: trip to Melbourne will take place on Wednesday, June 12th. It is a big day commencing at 7:30am and returning at 4:30pm. This excursion is part of the science based theme for the Grade 5s. Report Wring: Teachers have commenced the report wring for this semester. Reports will be completed in preparaon for Parent Teacher Interviews in the last week of this term. Parents will be offered 2 aſternoons from 3:45pm–5:45pm on Tuesday, June 25th and Wednesday June 26th. It is imperave that parents aend an interview, collect your childs report and discuss the achievements and plans for semester 2, with the classroom teacher. Parent Teacher Interviews: will be held in the last week of term– Tuesday June 25th and Wednesday June 26th straight aſter school unl 5:45pm. G.V.Water Reading Champs Our friends for GV Water have started up their support for our reading programs again this year. Volunteers visit each week on Wednesday morning for one hour to listen to our students read. Every bit of extra practice with reading is a bonus and we are very grateful for this investment in our school.

No Fake Readers Award Students right across our school are developing their independent reading skills by engaging fully in reading for sustained periods of time (around 20 minutes uninterrupted). Last week’s class spotted for NO FAKE READING, was:

Under 10’s had a great win over Numurkah on Saturday passing the ball well and showing good sportsmanship in victory. Thank you to the supporters on the sidelines for all the encouragement as well.
