This country has a lot of places to visit and the Nissan

X-TRAIL offers you three ways to get there. All X-TRAIL

engines give you the power you need but, just as importantly,

achieve great fuel economy.

The 2WD X-TRAIL features a 2.0 litre 4 cylinder petrol

engine, available with a 6-speed manual transmission on ST

2WD or an incredibly smooth automatic Xtronic Continuously

Variable Transmission (CVT). The 2WD X-TRAIL gives you

great effi ciency for scenic getaway drives – just 8.5 litres per

100km* combined for the manual and 8.4 litres per 100km*

combined for the CVT automatic.

The 2.5 litre 4 cylinder petrol engine on 4WD models delivers

an impressive 125kW of power and 226Nm of torque thanks, in

part to its Continuous Valve Timing Control System (CVTCS),

which optimises performance. It also comes with either a

6-speed manual transmission on ST 4WD or a CVT automatic

transmission with 6-speed M-Mode.

The 2.0 litre turbo-diesel engine is no slouch either and

features a variable nozzle turbo charger that helps deliver

more power and lower emissions, giving you 127kW of power

and 360Nm of torque on the manual model. Your transmission

choices are a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic

with M-Mode. They both offer excellent fuel economy

– 7.2 litres per 100km* combined for the manual and 7.4 litres

per 100km* combined for the automatic, so you can spend

more time seeing Australia and less time at the service station.

Although the Nissan X-TRAIL is all about getting out

and about, we certainly haven’t scrimped when

providing interior features to make your adventures

easier and more comfortable. All models feature a

handsfree phone system to help you

answer calls safely. Plus there’s the ability to play

your iPod^ through the vehicle’s stereo system.

You’ll be able to fi nd your perfect driving position by

adjusting both the driver’s seat and the new tilt and

telescopic reach steering column.

All ST, ST-L and TS 4WD models offer a 6 CD

in-dash auto-changer with AM/FM radio and MP3

compatibility. All models offer the convenience of

steering wheel mounted audio and cruise controls.

When you choose the top-of-the-line 4WD petrol Ti

or diesel TL models, the level of technology is truly

impressive. An integrated colour display with touch

screen puts the following at your fi ngertips: Satellite

with 3D mapping and SUNA GPS Traffi c Updates™,

Bluetooth® handsfree phone system, full iPod^

connectivity via USB, reversing camera and DVD

player. These models also feature the Intelligent Key

keyless entry system, which allows the key to stay in

Snow Storm TL 4WD

Whether you’re cruising along a highway or heading off the beaten track

you’ll really appreciate the Nissan X-TRAIL 4WD’s intelligent ALL MODE

The centre console rotary dial makes it easy to change between three driving

modes while driving: 2WD for normal driving conditions, AUTO which

continually monitors all four wheels and instantly distributes the ideal amount

of torque between them and, for serious off-roading, LOCK which splits the

front and rear wheel torque evenly for maximum stability and traction. Also

standard on 4WD models is Hill Start Assist, where the brake remains

engaged for a few seconds while you switch from the brake to the accelerator,

thus helping to prevent any roll back. Naturally, if we’re going to help you get

up a hill more safely, we should help you get down too. So Hill Descent

Control on 4WD models uses the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) to keep

your vehicle travelling at a controlled speed on the way down. It automatically

reduces your speed to 7km/h on the manual models or lets you vary between

4km/h and 15 km/h, using brake and accelerator on the automatic and CVT

models. Either way, it helps you maintain complete control.

Whether you choose a 2WD or 4WD model, the Nissan X-TRAIL

may be a compact SUV but there’s nothing compact about its interior.

The rear folding seat system offers a split-seat confi guration,

which allows you to carry longer items like skis, and still comfortably

seat two adults. These seats can be reclined to fi ve different

positions or you can fold them down entirely to create a completely

fl at rear area for carrying larger items, or even for sleeping. To make

cleaning easy, there are removable, washable luggage boards in the

rear. The innovative rear drawer system allows you to organise

your gear and can also be removed to provide extra cargo capacity.

Meanwhile, both the privacy glass (available on all models except ST

2WD and ST 4WD models) and rear cargo blind* will keep your gear

away from prying eyes. Plus there are plenty of cargo hooks and tie

down points to make it simple to secure everything before you head

off. Of course the clever storage ideas aren’t limited to the rear.

There’s also a dash-top storage box, eight cup or bottle holders - four

of which can be heated or cooled, centre console storage, and a

heated or cooled glovebox. Your expedition is certainly going to be

well equipped.

Although there’s plenty of luggage room inside the Nissan X-TRAIL,

you might want to take some bigger toys with you, like a jet ski or

the family boat. You’ll fi nd the X-TRAIL 4WD’s 2,000kg braked towing

on petrol and manual turbo-diesel models will cope easily with just

about anything you want to hook on the back*. An added sporty

touch is provided by 17” alloy wheels on the ST, ST-L and TS models,

while the Ti and TL models feature stylish 18” alloy wheels.

Nissan has an advanced, proactive approach to vehicle safety that operates on three tiers. Firstly, the X-TRAIL’s design and ride height offer excellent visibility to help you identify and avoid potential hazards. In addition, the reversing camera (available in Ti and TL 4WD models) helps you see exactly what you’re backing towards for greater safety. Secondly, a variety of systems aid you in maintaining control in emergency situations. The Electronic Stability Program (ESP), also known as Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), compares the intention of the driver with the current behaviour of the vehicle and selectively brakes individual wheels and controls engine power to help keep the car on its intended path and prevent roll-over. While the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Brake Assist (BA) and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) work together to help you retain control when braking in an emergency situation and optimise control by sensing the load condition of both passengers and luggage. Finally, in the event of a collision, the X-TRAIL has a high intensity cabin structure and a total of six airbags, including dual front, side and curtain, which are standard across the entire X-TRAIL range, and create a protective cocoon to keep you and your passengers safe. If the loaded vehicle mass is reduced as shown in the table, the towball download can be increased correspondingly. Accordingly, if the laden mass is 250kg less than the GVM∞, a towball download of 200kg is approved. Different trailer types and different trailer manufacturers have varying towball downloads. The customer will need to contact the trailer manufacturer for information as to the download. Nissan does not recommend the fitting of load levelling or weight distribution devices when used with a Nissan Genuine towbar. When fitted and used correctly, the Nissan Genuine towbar is capable of meeting the towbar/towball capacity stated in the above table.
