Three Processes Based on Employee Type

• Rutgers Legacy, UMDNJ Legacy, Rutgers Foundation are the three employee types.

• The payroll deduction process is different for Rutgers Legacy and UMDNJ Legacy employees.

• Rutgers Foundation employees can only contribute via check. Payroll deduction is not available.

Important Notes

• Contributors must complete the paper pledge form AND the online steps in RIAS to give via payroll deduction.

• RIAS electronic steps ensure that your gift will be taken from your paycheck.

• The paper pledge form indicates what charity your gift is designated to.

• You may also use the paper pledge form to make a one time donation via check.

Process and Deadlines

• All contributions by payroll deductions must be made through RIAS Self-Service by December 5th.

• All paper pledge forms and checks (If applicable) must be submitted by the coordinators to Kay Schechter by December 10th:

•A secondary menu will appear

•Choose “Combined Charities”

• Determine if you would like to give a flat amount per pay period or a % of your gross pay each pay period

• Select the appropriate deduction type from the drop down box

•Enter the flat amount or % amount per pay period to be deducted in the appropriate box

• Determine if you would like deductions taken until you reach a specific goal amount.

• If so, enter the target amount in the appropriate box

• If not, leave this box blank

• You must enter a specific start date

• Click on the calendar to the right of the start date box to choose January 1, 2015

• You do not have to enter an end date if you set a goal amount

• Click on the calendar to the right of the end date box to choose the appropriate date

• For most individuals this will be December 31, 2015

Process and Deadlines

• UMDNJ Legacy Employees process payroll deductions through the NJSECC site directly.

• All contributions by payroll deductions must be made through the site by December 5th.

• No paper pledge forms are required for payroll deductions.• You will need to use a pledge form if you are making a one

time contribution by check.

If You’re Registering:

• Click “Register” and fill out the form that pops up.

• Don’t forget to select your organization. “Rutgers UMDNJ Legacy”

a copy of the receipt.

Summary

• Rutgers Legacy employees can use RIAS self-service to make a contribution via payroll deduction or make a one time contribution via check. Both require the paper pledge form to be submitted.

• UMDNJ Legacy employees can make a contribution via payroll deduction through the NJSECC website or a one time contribution via check using the paper pledge form. A paper pledge form is not required if using the NJSECC website.

• Rutgers Foundation employees can only make one time contributions via check using the paper pledge form.
