INTERIORLarge cabin and luggage areaThe X-TRAIL’s long wheelbase and estate rear creates plenty of room for five passengersand luggage. With the back seats folded down you have a completely flat load area andcavernous 1841 litres of space. The load area floor can be removed and hosed down toclean.

Clever storageThere’s a place for everything in the X-TRAIL. The rear centre armrest folds down to reveal aski-hatch wide enough for a snowboard or a load of lumber. More storage for your personalitems is concealed in the armrest itself. Up front, the driver facing storage box and split levelglovebox hold all your essentials. And there are even can-cooling cupholders in the front thatkeep your drinks cool when the air conditioning is on.

Panoramic sunroofThe X-TRAIL’s sunroof is much larger than conventional sunroofs, enabling you to get evenmore pleasure from the great outdoors. The sunroof is standard on all models bar the SE.

Family PackAvailable on dCi SE models the Family Pack has a unique seat trim and transforms the backseat area. Family friendly features include “relax” headrests so kids can sleep comfortablyand a toy box with power outlet. The large centre armrest with integrated table keeps the kidsseparate and happy.

EXTERIORStylish Wheels and Privacy Glass17” alloy wheels and privacy glass are now standard on Columbia and Aventura grades, with16” alloys on SE. The alloy wheels give X-TRAIL a sporty look, while privacy glass protectsyou from unwanted attention and also blocks out more of the suns potentially harmful UVrays.

The shape of adventureEvery aspect of the X- TRAIL has been shaped with tool-like precision. A steeply anglednose and tail enables the X-TRAIL to power up and down steep inclines. While wide wheelarches leave plenty of room for wheel movement as the suspension tames tough terrain

Large roofrack with driving lampsOptional on the Aventura grade, the unique roof mounted safari lamps give the term night-lifea whole new meaning. Integrated into aluminium roof rails that can hold up to 100kg whenthe accessory crossbars are fitted, the lamps increase the lighting range to 180 metres forenhanced night vision.

ENGINEDiesel engine with 136PSThe X-TRAIL’s 2.2 dCi turbo engine has the latest common rail injection and M firecombustion system, and delivers 100kW (136 PS) of power. As well as impressive fueleconomy and low CO2 emissions, it also produces 304 Nm of torque at 2000 revs.

Petrol engines with 140 to 165 PSThe 2.5 petrol litre engine features twin camshafts and 16 valves, run via a silent chain withcontinuously variable valve timing control (CVTC). This generates 165 PS of no-nonsensepower. For a balance between performance and economy, you can opt for the 2.0 litre petrolengine with its 140 PS. Whichever engine you choose, low noise and vibration create a quietand smooth ride, whether it’s over city bumps or country potholes.

The pleasure of cruise control
On long roads, cruise control keeps the X-TRAIL's speed constant. This enables you toconcentrate on the road ahead, making driving safer and more comfortable. A light touch onthe brake or accelerator and you are back in control of the speed of the vehicle. Cruisecontrol is now standard on 2.5 petrol and 2.2 diesel engine models.

HANDLING4 independent suspensionsThe X-TRAIL’s suspension easily tackles tough terrain, and it’s smooth you’re back ontarmac. With four independent suspensions, each wheel responds to bumps withouttransferring the shock to the other wheels – making for a truly comfortable ride.

Dynamic corneringThe X-TRAIL is a 4x4 that corners like a sports car. Thanks to its independent suspensionand excellent body control, the X-TRAIL handles with assurance.

PASSIVE SAFETYISOFIX child seat bracketsThe X-TRAIL includes brackets which make it easy to attach ISOFIX child safety seats.Quick and secure installation ensures total peace of mind.

Airbags
All models have driver and passenger plus front side airbags, for confident driver andpassenger protection.

Active headrestsTo minimise the risk of whiplash, X-TRAIL head restraints move forward then return to theirnormal position in the event of a collision.

ACTIVE SAFETYPowerful brakesThe X-TRAIL has three braking systems to help you stop safely. Electronic Brake ForceDistribution (EBD), automatically regulates the pressure between the front and rear brakes, giving all wheels optimum braking – even when towing or carrying heavy loads. Inemergency braking, Brake Assist increases the force applied to the brakes. And ABSprevents the wheels from locking, making it easier to steer around obstacles.

ESP+ (Electronic Stability Program)
The Electronic Stability Program+ (ESP+) has a myriad of electronic sensors thatmeasure wheel speed and steering angle. This increases stability by reducing engine outputand applying braking to individual wheels when conditions require it. ESP+ is fitted asstandard on the T-Spec model. The X-TRAIL also comes with speed sensitive powersteering, enabling you to corner enthusiastically yet safely.
