We The People' (WTP)

• WTP was constituted in 1993 as a voluntary organisation

• It represents a group of citizens committed to create a platform& bring together the like minded engaged in the upliftment of masses & improving the life at grass root level

• WTP provides the crucial link and participation in the chain of

services and assistance needed and provided to the common man by linking individual’s / corporate and assisting the local governments or other organisations or in conjunction with both

• This primarily requires assessing the needs & requirements

• Identifying the obstacles in the path of smooth delivery of services & lastly

• Removal of such impediments so as to facilitate smooth & effective performance of service & assistance to the people

• Focus - to improve the quality of life & standard of living for all

Cleanliness Issues In India

• HRD Minister has stated in the Parliament in November 2014 that

– 2.03 lakh government Schools lack toilet facilities

– 54,533 have do not have drinking water &

– 5.57 lakh do not have electricity connection

• On date only 22% of the state’s households have toilets

– 1/7th of the world population do not have access to Toilets.

– 60% of them live in India.

– 53% Indian Households defecate in the open (Source: World Bank)

– Poor sanitation impacts human body and resultant health

– Finally an increased focus of Government & Corporate in sanitation issues

Bio-Digestor Toilets

• Caparo has developed bio-digesters toilets which are modeled on DRDO technology.

• They address the problem of open defecation, human scavenging and human waste disposal in an environmentally friendly manner.

• The unique anaerobic process uses specially developed bacteria which acts on the excreta and converts it in to potable water and methane.

• While the water can be drained or used as a non-hazardous

effluent, methane can be used as a fuel.

• It is already being used by the Indian Railways and has extensive usages in villages, schools, institutions, public lavatory, defense, prisons, pilgrim routes, mines, and remote areas, public areas such as beaches and even in houses.
