The date August 30, 2020was remarkable. On that day,Ningbo officially became one ofthe three expanded areas of Chi-na (Zhejiang) Pilot Free TradeZone, meaning that the city ush-ered in a new round of signifi-cant opportunities for opening upto the world.

In less than a year, theNingbo Area of China (Zhejiang)Pilot Free Trade Zone has pro-moted 16 innovative achieve-ments and housed 64 major in-vestment projects, with a totalinvestment of nearly 200 billionyuan.

Implementation of theInnovation with Originality Model

Recently, in Lingfeng Mod-ern Industrial Park, Beilun Dis-trict, the road framework of thecore block has been completed.With more than four months togo before the planned completiondate, 13 industrial projects havebeen settled in the park with atotal investment of about 4.27billion yuan, said He Guangli,head of the Park. Such achieve-ments are blessed by the imple-mentation of original innovationsemergent as a result of the Ning-bo Area—Industrial CommunityIntegrated Service Mechanism.

Lingfeng Industrial Park hasa total planning area of 13.4square kilometers, of which 3.2square kilometers are included inthe Ningbo Area. In terms of in-dustrial layout, the park focuseson the expansion of intelligentequipment and services, 5G+ in-dustrial Internet, industrial keybasic parts, and high- end autoparts, and strive to reach 100billion yuan of new industrialoutput value by 2030.

The Ningbo Area—Indus-trial Community Integrated Ser-vice Mechanism is a majorbreakthrough in management. Ayear ago, "industrial communi-ty" was still a stranger to ordi-nary people in the Area, but nowit is popular.

In this March, Beilun re-leased the first provincial- levelstandards set forth for community-based management of and ser-vices for industrial clusters inChina. In the first half of 2021

alone, the Industrial CommunityIntegrated Service Mechanismwas awarded "one of the 16 in-novative pilot policies" in theNingbo Area.

New Record of ProjectIntroduction and Production

New record was made inthe Ningbo Area in project in-troduction and production.

Last year, 44 projects wereintroduced to the Ningbo areawithin 77 days after its estab-lishment, creating an average ofone project settled in less than 2days. This year, 35 major indus-trial projects have been complet-ed and put into operation in theNingbo Area, covering high-endmanufacturing, green petrochem-ical, integrated circuit, and auto-mobile and parts, among others,with a total investment of 23.578billion yuan.

The project of Ningbo Ale-arth New Materials Company isan epitome of the "production

speed". At the end of last year,the company successfully brokethrough the technical bottleneckand became the first enterprise inChina to develop electronic gradeultra-high purity aluminum witha purity of 99.9999%.

"The total investment of theproject is 355 million yuan, andthe annual sales revenue will ex-ceed 1.5 billion yuan. We arenow starting production ahead ofschedule, setting the stage for thenext phase of growth. This is areflection of the free trade effi-ciency in the Ningbo Area."Zhang Jin, a representative of thecompany, said that the newproducts have begun to be sup-plied in small batches. Up tonow, among 64 key projects inthe Ningbo Area, 44 have beenstarted and three of them havebeen completed.

Functional Positioning toPromote Regional Development

In May this year, Ningbo

unveiled a construction plan forthe Ningbo Area of China (Zhe-jiang) Pilot Free Trade Zone.

According to the plan, theNingbo area is positioned to be-come an international shippingand logistics hub, an internation-ally influential oil and gas re-source distribution center, an in-novation center for internationalsupply chains, a global scientificinnovation center for new mate-rials, and a demonstration zonefor intelligent manufacturing.

In terms of building a newinternational energy trade center,at present, Ningbo has issued anew international energy tradecenter construction plan and ac-tively promoted the operation ofdigital energy and bulk com-modity industry platform, amongothers.

The market vitality stimu-lated by the reforms in theNingbo Area has also compre-hensively promoted the high-quality development of the re-gion: Ningbo has become one of

the seven industrial bases of newmaterials in China, and is hometo three of the top ten semicon-ductor material producers inChina. Meanwhile, Ningbo's po-sition in the global supply chainis also constantly improving.

By 2025, the city aims tobuild a system centered onopenness and a top-tier businessenvironment.

The plan also has severalspecific goals, such as achievingan annual cross- border RMBsettlement amount of 200 billionyuan ($30.77 billion).

Ningbo Zhoushan Port's an-nual container throughput is tar-geted to hit 32.7 million TEUs,while the figure for its oil andgas trade should reach 431 billionyuan.

The city has also set goalsof increasing its imports and ex-ports to 2 trillion yuan and liftingthe output value ofnew materials sectorto above 500 billionyuan.

Ningbo archer Zhou Ji-amin has been picked as theflag-bearer for Team China atthe opening ceremony of theTokyo Paralympic Games,held between August 24 andSeptember 5, the ChineseParalympic Delegation an-nounced on Monday.

Zhou Jiamin was bornin 1990 and lives in JinpingStreet, Fenghua District,Ningbo. She won two goldmedals at the 2016 SummerParalympics and took titlesat the 2019 World Champi-onships in the Netherlands.

The reason for choos-ing Zhou Jiamin as the flag-bearer is based on the con-sideration of the overallquality of the athletes. "Zhouwas a champion at the RioParalympic Games. She justgraduated from Beijing SportUniversity this year and isfluent in both English andJapanese," said Yangjian, arepresentative of ZhejiangProvincial Disabled Persons'Federation.

There are three mem-bers in Zhou's family, hermother, a 19- year- oldyounger sister, and Zhou.Her younger sister suffersmental disability caused bycerebral palsy. After herparents divorced, she and hermother depended on eachother for their lives.

In 2013, Ningbo held aseated volleyball competi-tion. Zhou Jiamin, who hadnever been formally trained,was mobilized to be amember to fill up the team.

Coincidentally, ShaoShufen, the coach of theProvincial Disabled ArcheryTeam, came to Ningbo tolook for talented members.Coach Shao asked her if shewas willing to try archery.At that time, Zhou Jiamindid not know anything aboutthe sport. After thinkingabout it for a while, sheagreed.

It turns out that CoachShao made the right choice.Later in an event in Shang-hai, Zhou Jiamin showed herunusual ability. At that time,she was just trained for onlya few months, but achievedgood results in fourth place.Not only did this game im-press the coach, but alsobuilt up Zhou Jiamin's con-fidence. In the followingnational championships, shewon third place.
