The Nicor Gas Energy Efficiency Program helps qualified homeowners improve the energy efficiencyof their homes at minimal cost. Now you can feelmore comfortable in your home and enjoy peace ofmind knowing you’re taking care of your investment.
HOW DOES THE PROGRAM WORK?Qualifying customers receive a no-cost, no obligationhome energy evaluation to determine the energyefficiency improvements that need to be made. As part of the evaluation, a local program providerwill perform a series of diagnostic tests to detectinsufficient insulation levels and make sure yourheating system is operating properly and safely.
Following the energy evaluation, you will receive anestimate detailing the energy efficiency improvementsto be made. Participating homeowners are asked topay 10 percent of the total weatherization costs and20 percent of the furnace repair or replacementcosts; Nicor Gas will fund the remaining cost of yourhome’s energy efficiency improvements.
INCOME ELIGIBILITY CHARTHomeowners must have a household incomebetween 201 percent and 300 percent of the federal poverty guidelines, as verified by the localCommunity Action Agency, and your householdincome should fall within this range:

WHAT IMPROVEMENTS MAY BE MADE?Depending on the results of the home energyevaluation, your home may receive one or moreof the following energy efficiency improvements:
Insulation. Adding insulation to the attic,walls, and crawlspaces helps reduce energyuse and increase comfort.
Sealing air leaks. Sealing air leaks will reducethe cold drafts caused by unwanted holes inthe home’s structure and may improve indoorair quality.
Energy saving products. Installing a high-efficiency shower head and faucet aerators saves energy.
Furnace replacements. Replacing or repairingan inefficient furnace will save energy andreduce energy costs.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?Nicor Gas customers who own single-family homes orduplexes in the counties with participating CommunityAction Agencies, and who meet the income requirements are eligible to participate. To find out ifyou qualify, review the income eligibility chart in thenext column and the list of participating CommunityAction Agencies on the back of this brochure.
