Local Lectures &Tours
4 hours per weekday in a local organization. Examples of placements are:
•Corazon Contento: working with people with down syndrome & developmental disabilities
•Carita Feliz: teaching occupational skills for people of all ages
•Los Pipitos: organization for children and young people with disabilities
•Hogar Alegria: girls’ orphanage
•Hogar La Providencia: retirement home
•Hogar Cristo Sana: boys’ orphanage
•Sagrado Corazon: school for impoverished children supported by donations
Volunteering at a school for children with disabilities.
Helped the children with art projects from 2:30 –4:00 and then played soccer and talked with them from 4:00 – 5:30.

Other Details… Pre‐Requisite:•Spanish 102, 102H, or 113, or equivalent
Spanish Credit:•Earn credit towards Spanish major or minor
Preparation:•Pre‐departure meetings in spring and summer•Pre‐departure orientation with UC International
Other Details… Application: •Required•Due March 12•Students who are not in University Honors are welcome! Must have cumulative GPA of 3.4 or above.
Cost :•$3200, estimated, subject to change•University Honors students will receive an $800 grant, making the expected cost $2400
•Includes Spanish classes and other instruction, housing, 3 meals daily with host family (other meals away from host family at own expense), two cultural excursions, two organized tour programs, airfare, ground transfers
