NIAGARA, WIS.Is one of th e p re ttiest little cities o f th is no rth ern country. I t is an

unincorporated city, situa ted in th e no rthernm ost p a rt o f M ari­nette county, W is., w ith very rich hardw ood farm ing lands, partly settled, back of it. I t is operated under the tow nship system in th e tow n o f A m berg. I t is situated on th e M enom inee river. T h e population is betw een 1,500 and 2,000, th e school census for th is year fo r th e d istric t being 537. T h e K im berly and .C lark Com pany P aper, G round W ood and Sulphite p lan t is located here and is one of the largest in th e country, built

to last fo r years and years. I ts p roduct daily is 50 tons sulphite, 70 tons g round w ood and 60 tons new spaper. T h e employes and w orkm en of th e d ifferent parts o f the p lan t are com fortably housed in upw ards of tw o hundred houses built and ow ned by the company, and rented a t a nom inal sum per m onth. T he houses of th is portion o f th e city are num bered and the stree ts nam ed, as w ill be seen by th e d irectory w hich follows. T he educational, relig ious and social fea tu res o f the oity a re equal to m any o f th e o lder cities, th ere being a fine public school, one church (M E ), nearly com pleted, and an o ther (R om an C atholic) soon to be erected, besides several beneficiary socie­ties. T h e city is ligh ted by electricity, well equipped w ith side­walks, has good general stores, tw o graduate physicians, first- class hotel, etc. A stage line m akes tw o round tr ip s daily betw een N iagara and Q uinnesec, w here connections a re m ade w ith the C. & N . W . railw ay fo r all points. A t p resen t a sw itch line fo r fre igh t business is ru n from Q uinnesec to N iagara, but la te r on it is expected th is w ill also be m ade a passenger line. N iagara has a g rea t fu ture , real estate a lready com m anding good figures, w hich are bound to advance as th e advantages o f the city are becom ing better understood.
