Our Past… • Incorporated in 1916 in Illinois as Cooperative
League of the USA (CLUSA). • 1944, helped establish Cooperatives for
Assistance and Remittances to Europe (CARE) • Expanded internationally in 1953 helping to
build the IFFCO cooperative in India
• 1960’s members were primary advocates for Food for Peace and USAID funding
• 1980’s helped create the National Consumer Cooperative Bank (now: NCB)
• 1990’s lobbied for and created RCDG grant
program at the USDA
• 2000 successfully created the .coop domain
