Next Sunday, Feb. 10 – Enchanted: A Love Story – Rev. Connie Simon and friends – What happens when we love fearlessly and openly? Rev. Connie, Director of Family Programming Meredith Plummer, Music Director Jera Cox and special guest actors Rozy Park and Chris Dendy weave a story about the magic that happens when we love with our entire selves.
The Flowers today are provided by the Carter Committee members who are proud to serve to continue the work of Rev. W.H.G. and Beulah Carter. . Sunday Morning Volunteer Program (MVP) Team One is handling the duties of greeting, ushering, providing coffee service and clean-up today. Team One is led by Alice Schneider. She is joined by Mary Smith, Lou Boyle, Gladys Warren, Richard Smith, Beth Duff, Gary Gebhart and John and Mary Kay Tensing.

Today in Sunday School your prekindergartner and kindergartner will learn about the Chinese New Year. Your first to third grader will explore our solar system and learn about Unitarian Astronomer Maria Mitchell. Your fourth and fifth grader will learn about St. Valentine and contem-plate Corinthians, Chapter 13, verse 4. Upstairs the Junior High Youth will explore spiritual themes through art and discussion. The Senior High youth will get to know their new Senior High Youth Advisor (to be introduced to the congregation next week.)

Sun, Feb. 17, 9 a.m. in the Ellen Hall Room – The Annual Secret Valentine Breakfast is on this date. You either have or will receive a sign-up request. If you choose to participate, the adults will bring a Val-entine card and breakfast for two. Children bring a Valentine Card and a homemade craft. All RSVP’s must be completed by Feb. 11 to give us time to do the secret match! Jo Ellen – [email protected] Sun., Feb. 24 - 11: 20 a.m. - The Peace Committee will meet in the Ellen Hall Room. They will be examining the conditions in Central American which are sending asylum seekers to our southern borders. To better understand the plight of these asylum seekers, we will have speak-ers from Guatemala and perhaps Honduras and there will be tamales for a lunch lovingly prepared by native Guatemalan women. Since we will need to know how many to plan for, sign-up after church services or call Ann Black - 513.563.8467

Carter Sunday
The Carter committee is excited about plans for our annual celebration on Sun-day, February 3. We will be having a reception after the service in the Ellen Hall Room. The Carter family has been invited, as have members of The Gathering at Northern Hills.
As in the past, we will be asking for donations to the Carter Fund in the next few weeks. This provides another way for First UU to reach out to the larger Commu-nity and to continue the work that the Carters undertook in the West End. Checks can be made out to First Church, but it is important to direct the money to the Carter Fund on the memo line. This will reduce confusion for Car-rie. Cash contributions can also be made on Feb. 3 or by giving money directly to Carrie (be sure to mention the Carter Fund) or to Ann Retford or Sandra Small. We would like to receive contributions by the end of February, although we will accept contributions all year. Thanks,
