Next Steps to the Citizens’ Vision Space Concept for Crnogorska 5

Throughout the year of 2013, the Nextsava-

mala team has tried to revitalize its given space

at Gavrila Principa 2 [GP2] and to attract peo-

ple to come in and use the space. However,

some most of the workshops had to take place

at other spaces in Savamala because our own

space at GP2 was too small or simply not visible:

it is a small space in the basement of a house

with no pedestrian space in front – except for

small stairs which only few people use – and at

the edge of a transport hub.

Nextsavamala continues in 2014. Many of our

participants expressed a wish for Nextsavamala

to continue providing a venue and working ac-

tively with the community.

How Nextsavamala continues

Our next step is to complete the Savamala Citi-

zens’ Vision. This means to aggregate the ideas

that have been already subsumed in the first re-

port into five to six scenarios for Savamala. The

scenarios illustrate how Savamala could develop

if ideas would come true and which locations

would be transformed. Every scenario follows a

different idea, such as giving Savamala back its

old pride or making it attractive as a students‘

neighbourhood. In order to make the process of

aggregating the scenarios accessible to public,

we would like to use the space at Crnogorska 5.

We have chosen this space, because it serves

perfectly the essential needs of Nextsavama-

la: to be visibile for people from outside and to

serve as a good meeting point. That is why we

are applying for this space for the year 2014 and

would, of course, be open to share it with the

other groups.

The concept is to use Crnogorska 5 as

An Exhibition Place ...

... for the current Citizens’ Vision. The space has a a large glass window, facing the Crnogorska street, which many peo-ple pass by daily. The transparent studio will show the ongoing progress of working on the Citizens‘ Vision during the winter and will contribute greatly to the Nextsavamala visual identity being remembered by the inhabitants.

A Nextsavamala Embassy ...

... where the citizens and visitors of Savamala can get informed about the current state and the next steps of the Nextsavamala process, to raise their questions and share comments.

A meeting point ...

... for Nextsavamalians to organise discussions and develop the visions further, as well as for the other groups and projects, that need space for working and meeting.

An office space ...

... for the onsite Team to work on the Citizens’ Vision

The space would serve especially well for Nextsavamala becauseThe Nextsavamala team ...

... is always present in Savamala, can therefore organize the space over a longer period of time than most of the other pro-jects. Moreover, the Team it is well-connected and trusted by many Savamala citizens.
