Jigsaw Strategy

"Step 1: For a class of 36 students, form 12 groups of 3 students each. "

Step 2: Each student will be an expert of one law of motion.

Step 3: The experts disperse to “research meetings” with other experts. There will be 12 experts for each law. The 12 members will split depending on the availability of resources say, into 2 teams. Step 4: After research the experts disperse and go back to their group and present their knowledge.

Step 5: Collectively they (each group) will demonstrate their learning using a presentation, model, song, play, video, writing a book or any other style.

Newton’s second law of motion

The force of an object is equal to its mass times acceleration. (F=ma)

"• A net force changes the velocity of the object, and

causes it to accelerate. "• If an object is acted upon by a net force, the change

in velocity will be in the direction of the net force. "• The acceleration of an object depends on its mass.

The more mass an object has or the more inertia it has, the harder it is to accelerate.
