The Manufacturing Confectioner • September 2015 77 NEWSMAKERS HDM, USA, expands testing facility Hamburg Dresdner, USA, has expanded its product- testing facility located at Vernon Hills, Illinois, to include a 45 kg-size MacIntyre Refiner Conche. This will enable potential customers in North America to see the machine demonstrated with their own recipes for chocolate, com- pounds, pralines, etc. The MacIntyre Refiner Conche can also be used for grinding, e.g., hazelnuts and sesame seeds, and for rework. For artisanal bean-to-bar cus- tomers, the refiner conche can grind nibs down to cocoa liquor and can be used to make the end chocolate as well. With an optional shear attachment, it can handle low-fat masses down to 21.5 percent fat content. The unit is jacketed for temperature control of the masses, allowing manufacturing at higher and lower temperatures. Thus it is suitable for sugarfree processes that require handling at lower temperatures. The facility also has a Bauermeister dry grind com- pound system, a UCOM compact powdered sugar milling system and a full analytical lab. Hamburg Dresdner manufactures machines and plants for the cocoa and chocolate industry. After the acquisition of Ladco Group (MacIntyre, Petzholdt-Heidenauer) in 2013, the Probat Group founded Hamburg Dresdner Maschinenfabriken.
