Espanola Little Theatre Backstage News Vol.1 Issue2residents Report: Our production ofYoure a Good Man Charlie Brown was agreat success, with Walter Maskel as

Director and Lisa Gamelin as Producer. Walter(who has done the Play in the past) had only thestrongest words of praise for the Cast saying

the production rivaled any versions of the Playthat he had seen previously, includedprofessional productions, so kudos to allinvolved for the great work in surpassing the highstandards expected from Espanola Little Theatre. All in all, it was a delightful production and there

was no question that it was thoroughly enjoyed bythose that attended.

We will be doing a comedy for our AnnualChristmas Dinner Theatre, with Walter onceagain graciously taking on the role of Director.

Although there is a short list of proposed Plays, we have not yet made the final decision.Auditions for Cast and the call for Crew to assist

will likely be held late August or early September.

There is a new Theatre group starting inEspanola. They have chosen the wonderful nameof Youtheatre, and we wish them well in theirefforts. Several well-known and long-timeEspanola Community Theatre names are alreadyinvolved. At our last June meeting, our Executive

was unanimous in their support for this newtheatre troupe, and will be presenting a donation

from E.L.T. to aid the start of their ventures.

On another note, Helen Landry, a long timeE.L.T. member and actor, has rejoined theExecutive of E.L.T. and has already taken on theimportant role of Supporting Donor Chair. We

welcome her back into the everyday workings ofE.L.T. Karen Gerrard has taken on the role ofSecretary which was being done (in an Actingposition with thanks) by Linda Erskine. Karenalso took on the day-to-day task of Membership. For membership, a new form is being developed, along with new time frames, with changes takingeffect later.

Our Annual General Meeting is slated to be heldin September, so watch for details and notificationof business pending. We look forward to yourattendance.

working to attend the opening night of Espanola LittleTheatre's You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown [April14]. We were amazed at the talent and ingenuity inthe staging and in the performances of the cast.Charlie Brown truly captured the spirit, aspirations, challenges, hopes, dreams, disappointments, and

successes of Charles Shultz's kids and their intrepidbeagle, Snoopy.

The elegantly simple staging of the play allowed thecomic strip to come to life in a completely original andeven startling way. Congradulations to the cast andcrew for providing such a splendid evening ofentertainment and laughter.
