Dear Families and friends of Stanford Merthyr
Infants
THOUGHT OF THE WEEK
“We should be in the business of building people
up. There’s too many people in the demolition busi-
ness today.” Norman Vincent Peale.
FEDERAL ELECTIONS NEXT SATURDAY 7TH
We are very thankful to Kurri Rotary Sunrise Club
who have nominated our school as the one they
would like to support on the day of the Federal
Elections on Saturday 7th September. They will
come and cook a BBQ and all money raised will go
to our school.
The P&C will also sell raffle tickets and we would
like to have a cake stall. If you are prepared to
cook a cake, cupcakes, slices, scones etc and bring
them to school, Friday 6th September, it would be
fantastic. Please label ingredients. We would not
sell food containing peanuts please.
KURRI BOWLING CLUB RAFFLES SUNDAYS.
Thank you to the Albrew family who came with me
a fortnight ago and to Kristy Summerville, Cathy
and Sharnie Bartlett who came with me last Sun-
day night. Volunteering your time to help the
school is very much appreciated.
REPTILE PARK EXCURSION 21ST AUGUST
The children really enjoyed the time at the Rep-
tile Park. No-one had any bad experiences and
many were brave enough to touch pythons and liz-
ards. I think even Mr Ping is feeling more comfortable
seeing real snakes! I had a Principal’s meeting to attend

GRANDPARENTS, MOTHERS AND FATHERS
FUN DAY
Thank you for the support given to our Family Day.
It was interesting to hear the stories from your
youth and especially from those of you who are
grandparents. We hope you enjoyed the class
items and hearing Cathy Vogt read her book, “A
dragon’s tale.”
EXCURSION TO THE CIVIC THEATRE AND
FORESHORE.
A note was sent home last Thursday inviting all
children to attend a performance of the children’s
story, “Emily Eye-finger” which will be performed
at the Civic Theatre Newcastle. The cost per child
is $15. The P&C are generously paying a further
$9 per child to make the day affordable to fami-
lies. After the show we will travel to the fore-
shore for lunch, followed by a scavenger hunt.
LUNCH ORDERS FOR SPORTS CARNIVAL
WITH NILLO INFANT SCHOOL.
This exciting day will be held at our school on Fri-
day 6th September. We are having a BBQ for
lunch and recess can also be ordered. These order
forms are included in the newsletter and must be
returned by Thursday 5th September. This is a
huge day for our volunteers to organise, and to en-
sure we have enough food, no late orders will be
accepted on the day of the carnival. Thank you.
WORK BY KINDERGARTEN
Nillo/SMIS Sports Carnival
On Friday the 6th of September we will be hosting the
Nillo/SMIS Sports Carnival at Stanford. Students are
to wear their full sports uniform. Please make sure
your child has a hat and a water bottle as we will be
outside all day. The Carnival will begin at 10.15am.
However, parents can arrive from 10.00am. Students
are to come to school at normal time. They will be given
shared fruit break in class before the commencement
of the carnival and will be put in their groups. If you
are coming to the carnival please bring a picnic chair
and rug as we will not have enough seating at school for
everyone. If anyone has a tarp that we could borrow
for the students to sit on throughout the day, it would
be greatly appreciated. We will still have Baker Baker
at Recess, but due to our visitors we will have 6 Baker
Bakers instead of the usual 3. If you have any ques-
tions please see me.
Thank you.

Last week we went
to the Reptile Park
on a bus. We liked
seeing the kanga-
roos and the koalas
and the crocodile.

Children are asked to be here at school at 5pm dressed in their pyjamas. They are able to bring their
teddy or soft toy if they would like to. We will serve pizza and a drink first, before going to Mr
Ping’s room to watch the movie. We would appreciate Kinder and Year 1 to be picked up at 7pm please.
Then Year2 will remain and have activities to enjoy before they sleep over. Breakfast will be provid-
ed for them. We would appreciate the Year 2’s being picked up at 11:15 on Friday morning
please. They will be very tired and probably will not have had the best night’s sleep. Thanks very
much.
