“May your journey always be filled with blessings, and may the life of Saint Mary MacKillop ignite in you the flames of faith and service”
Dear Members of MacKillop Catholic College Community,
Welcome Back On Tuesday it was my pleasure to welcome our young people back for Fourth Term at MacKillop College. Parents told me how their sons and daughters were ready and were up bright and early for their first day of the MacKillop College Term Four journey. You have my utmost commitment in making this Term a special Term (the best one yet) for your son/daughter, a term where they will be able to look back over many achievements, special memories and significant events with fondness.
Leadership Team The Leadership Team were back early planning and organising the term ahead. On Tuesday morning students had timetables sorted and teachers ready to run with their new programs thanks to the efforts of my leadership team. I am delighted to have Kirwan Thorbjornsen, Vanaja Arrakal and Christopher Trevillion stepping up to help lead the College this term in the area of Academic Studies. Our position of Deputy Principal – Academic Studies for 2014 will be finalised over the next few weeks. Marie Butt as APRE leads in the area of Religious Education, Michelle Chambers as Business Manager looking after Finance, and Kate Middleton as Office Manager. I am blessed to have such a fine team who bring with them a range of skills and abilities and who support me as Principal of the developing College.
Opening Prayer for the new Term
God of love and learning, as we begin this new school term, we thank you for the energy and the spirit that you renewed in us through the holidays. We thank you for the time to enjoy our family and friends and to reflect on what is important in our lives.
Let this term be marked by enthusiasm and love so that, with the inspiration of your Spirit, we may continue to grow in our faith.
Help us to fulfill Your hope for us with honest intentions and works of faith. May we be positive in our attitude, faithful in loving and generous in the service of others. Let us be gentle with ourselves and bring laughter, joy and love to others.
Lord, we thank you for our school community, knowing that we can learn from each other and we pray that all of us may grow as the people you call us to be. Amen.
Blessings always, Lauretta Graham - Principal

New Staff … We have one new staff member who has started with us this term. We welcome Kate Brady. Though she has not yet received an extensive induction process she is certainly getting used to ‘how we do things around here’. Please make Kate feel welcome. She brings with her a rich experience and an eagerness to become part of our special community.

Presentation Night – Your help needed urgently
Our College Presentation Night will be held on Thurs 21st November and part of the evening will be presenting a medallion to each young person who has represented the NT in sport or other activity. I need parents help to send us names of their sons or daughters, a photo and a brief description of the event. Please do this as soon as possible. Thank you.
Uniform Statement
As a condition of enrolment, students are to comply with our policy and are required to be neatly groomed and in correct uniform at all times, which includes excursions and other public functions at which the College is represented. Our policy addresses the total appearance of the student travelling to and from school and while at school. The uniform presents the College to the public and ensures a positive image in line with the College ethos as a Catholic College. The Principal or person/s appointed by the Principal, have the right to exclude any dress that does not ensure a positive image of the College.
Please ensure that all items of uniform are according to our expectations.
Make-up and coloured nail varnish are not part of the College uniform and are not to be worn. Boys are to have a clean shaven appearance at all times. The only jewellery allowed to be worn is a wrist watch and one pair of plain small studs or sleepers. Any exception to this rule needs to be authorized by the APRE. Students may wear their sports uniform on core PE days.
If on a particular occasion the correct uniform cannot be worn a note from parents is necessary. Constant uniform offenders will be asked to obtain the correct uniform from the College Office as the College takes pride in students’ appearance and reputation. Our uniform develops a sense of pride in, and identification with, our College.
Our Condolences
