DSM News What a crazy time it is at the moment. There is uncertainty throughout the world and all of the children are feeling a little overwhelmed and no doubt, so are the adults. Your children are to remain home at all times if you are not an “essential worker” or if there are no other options. Workbooks will be sent home for learning in conjunction with online computer programs which the children would normally access at school. If you do not have log on’s for these programs, please contact the class teacher. Keep a routine at home for your children so they feel a sense of calm and normality at a time of uncertainty. Whilst the children are at home due to COVD‐19, please complete some fun activities with them such as cooking, reading together, completing puzzles, playing board games and exploring the backyard for bugs. Even though work has been sent home, it is not the intention that the children sit and do school work for 6 hours each day and it is also not expected that you as a parent become teachers. Have fun and relax with your children. These school holidays will no doubt be a little different from previous holidays due to the lock down of many business and activities that we would usually take our children to keep them entertained throughout the holidays. Below, I have listed a few activities that you can do at home to keep the little ones busy and occupied.
Playdough/Salt Dough Themed movie days Cubby houses under the table Treasure hunt in the backyard Cooking biscuits Decorating cupcakes Musical chairs and statues. Hide and seek Dress ups
Kapooka Neighbourhood House has been temporarily closed until further notice. Please keep an eye out on Facebook for reopening times. All the staff wish you a happy and safe break and we look forward to seeing you all in Term 2 which hopefully, will bring a little more normality and certainty for us all. Rachel Dolan DSM
