Ten days training workshop was organized by Welthungerhilfe (a long standing partner of LASOONA) at Akhtar Hameed Khan Center for Rural development Islamabad from November 17-25, 2014. Three staff members from LASOONA, along with one Agriculture Officer, District Swat and Assistant District Officer, Education deptt. Shangla have participated in the training workshop. International experts on the subject of Food & Nutrition Security facilitated the training. Tool Kits Distribution On 22nd December, 2014, LASOONA has received the Mehergarh Award for Leaders of Change. This award is an acknowledgement and recognition for rendering exceptional efforts to make the work place harassment free and implementing workplace harassment laws effectively. The Mehargarh Awards are given each year to organizations who have made concerted effort to make their workplaces dignified by complying with 'Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act, 2010'. Integrated Water Resource Management

Drininking Water Supply scheme completed at Behrain Swat.

LASOONA has successfully completed water supply scheme at Behrain, Swat which will benefit 518 households of the village. Moreover, under the scheme, a 12000 gallons water tank along with 95 communal tap stands constructed to facilitate the community for easy access to safe drinking water at their door step.

LASOONA: Society for Human and Natural Resource Development under its Disaster Risk Management program organized five days Training of trainer on Safe School Practices/School based Disaster Management approaches for Master Trainer from education department that include both teaching staff and management personnel.

Total 21 participants i.e. 16 men and 5 women participated in this five days ToT. These Master trainers will further impart trainings to school teachers, students and PTC members in ten target schools of union council Beshigram, Behrain, Balakot and Mankayal.

LASOONA two staff members (male & female each) have been trained on School Led Total Sanitation (SLTS) techniques organized by UNICEF in Islamabad. The trained staff will further train twenty five school teachers and education officials. This training is part of the capacity building program under the “Pakistan Approach to Total Sanitation (PATS)” jointly implemented by UNICEF and LASOONA.

LASOONA: Society for Human & Natural Resource Development has organized an inception workshop on October 23, 2014 to formally launch its project on Sanitation Program at Scale in Pakistan (SPSP), Rural Phase-II. The project will be implemented in five union councils of District Shangla, KPK in collaboration with UNICEF. The inception workshop was attended by around 30 participants represented by different relevant stakeholders of the project. The participants were briefed on the goal and objectives of the project and their roles and responsibilities in making the project a success.

The framework presented in the ToT covered the following three main pillars; 1) Promote Safe Learning Facilities2) School Disaster Management and 3) Risk Reduction Education.

Training for Emergency Response TeamsTo operationalise emergency response and preparedness plans prepared at village level, Emergency Response Teams (ERTs) were formed and trained in ten target villages of union council Mankyal and Balakot. One ERT training consists of 25-35 members selected by the respective Disaster Management Committee (DMC) on pre-defined criteria set with DMC members. Due to cultural constraints, separate ERT teams were formed and trained for both men and women. For division of tasks and responsibilities among the village emergency response team members, various subcommittee i.e. search and rescue committee,

In this regard, a series of consultative workshops were held in the month of November and December, 2014 both at district and tehsil levesl in which representatives from government line departments, district administration, NGOs and community members participated. The purpose of this workshop was to apprise the participants with the concept of Community Based Flood Early Warning system, develop

inclusive early warning system for the district acceptable to all stakeholders and to develop linkages among the stakeholders for the success of this pilot model. This workshop was also important for creating a coordination mechanism among the stakeholders.All the stakeholders agreed for coordinated efforts for dissemination of effective early warning information in the community while roles and responsibilities of each stakeholder were discussed and agreed with mutual consent.

Besides, a comprehensive ERT kit was also handed over to each ERT and they were also oriented on the use and maintenance of the kit during training.

first aid committee, Logistic committee and EWS committee with specified roles and responsibilities were constituted within the larger team of ERTs. These ERT teams were imparted three days extensive training on first aid, search & rescue, emergency evacuation, firefighting and early warning and simulation exercises were also conducted with ERTs. For women ERT teams, two days training was organized on first aid, firefighting and early warning.

The campaign 16 days of activism is celebrated globally from 25th of November to 10th December. The 16 days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children emphasized the connection between women's rights, violence against women and women's health and the detrimental consequences violence against women has on the well-being of the world as a whole.

Human rights cannot be universal without human rights for women. In memorizing this event, LASOONA, OXFAM and IRC jointly arranged this event in Jalozai camp Nowshera which was attended by Temparary Displaced Persons-TDPs ( women and men) and other stakeholders who came together to support the campaign in fighting against GBV. This activity was attended by a large number of women and different stakeholders including humanitarian organizations working in the camp.

The first-ever Global Hand Washing Day took place on October 15, 2008 in countries all over the world. The guiding vision of Global Hand Washing Day, now an annual event, is a local and global culture of hand washing with soap.

The event is celebrated with the aim to raise awareness of hand washing with soap. LASOONA: Society for Human and Natural Resource Development celebrated Global Hand Washing Day at District Shangla, Jalozai camp and Behrain Swat. The celebration of the day was focused on the theme for the year 2014 i.e. “CLEAN HANDS, SAVES LIVES”. Children are always the agent of change and try to learn and adopt new learning's from the environment around them, so the event celebrated with children and they actively participated in event. LASOONA organized different activities like walk, skit competition, quiz competition, and a magical show.

The World Toilet day celebrated on 19th November 2014 at two of LASOONA’s operational areas i-e Jalozai camp and Puran, District Shangla. The main objective was to create awareness about problems that global community in general and rural people of Pakistan in particular faced due to non-availability of latrines and how it will affect individual, families and environment.

All the participants enjoyed the tricks and students especially appreciated and enjoyed the magical show.Besides students, a number of other stake holders were also invited for the celebration of GHWD.

LASOONA organized different activities like walk, skit competition etc. and delivered the awareness raising messages regarding sanitation issues. At the end of the event, prizes were distributed among the participants of the event. Community and school children for the first time observed this day and came to know about the importance of celebrating it. This also exhibit seriousness of the issue and world response to it.
