    WELCOME NEW MEMBER

    Welcome to our newest inductedmember Opt. Ro Dhamija. He andhis family reside in Oakville but hechose to join our club after seeingour web site and having somediscussions with our Past. Pres. DanSnider. The surprise is that evenafter talking with Opt. Dan hedecided to join :)

    Opt. Ro has jumped in with bothfeet already and is working on apossible fundraiser for next year atthe Burl. Air Park. Ro, incidentally is

    a pilot for Air Canada. He alsostarted off by winning the ToonieDraw at our Oct. dinner meeting.

    It looks like we will have a fewnew members added in the future.Dr. Murray McPhail will be inductedat our Jan. meeting and we have anumber of members who havepeople interested in the near future.

    Remember, it isnt difficult tosponsor a new member, all you haveto do is JUST ASK someone!

    YULE LOG DRAW

    Remember to sell your Yule LogDraw tickets and bring your ticketstubs to the Club Xmas Party onThurs. Dec. 10 where the draw wiltake place. This is a big fundraiserfor your club and Terry says that althe books are out - hopefully theyare all sold.

    SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM

    After a successful beginning lastyear, your club is again instituting abusiness sponsorship program tohelp raise money for our youthefforts. Businesses are offeredsponsorship at Platinum ($500.+)Gold ($250.-$499.) and Silver($150.-$249.) levels. In return fortheir sponsorship we promote themas a sponsor at our events and onour web site. Each level hasdifferent benefits offered in return fortheir sponsorship level. Forms and

    more information are now availablefrom Past. Pres. Dan or Pres. Bill.

    OPTIMIST CLUB WINS BEST NON-COMMERICAL AWARD

    In this years edition of the Milton Santa Claus Parade the Optimist Club oMiltons float depicting the Grinch won the best Non-Commercial entry. Thanks

    to the hard worko f m a n ym e m b e r sespecially Opt.Steve Gardonyi,who donated his

    shop andtruck as well as was able to get at r a i l e r donated, and his wife Angiewho was the artistic designer of theentry. The entry came together over acouple of weeks prior to the parade inOpt. Steves shop with the help of many members and included donations otime and/or materials from many of the club members.

    DARLING HOME PRESENTATION

    At our Induction Night on Oct. 8 Pres. ElecBill Melville and Opt. Ruth Nicholson presented acheque to Darling Home for Kids for over $2,200. aswell as a couple of ride on powered motorcyclesthat had been donated for them through Opt. RuthThey had already received a big screen TV that Opt

    Ruth had donated from the owners of Peter HodgeTransport who had heard about our work in raisingfunds for Darling Home for Kids.

    OPTIMIST SHIRTS & JACKETS

    Opt. Dan ONeill has been able to secure bothgolf shirts and jackets for any Optimist Clubmembers that are interested in purchasing some.The golf shirts are the same make and colour as thecurrent ones that we have but these do not have apocket. The windbreaker type jacket comes in thesame colour as well as navy blue. Prices would be

    as follows:Shirts - $30.00 Jackets - $28.50

    This price includes our Milton Optimist Clublogo. If you wanted your name on either the shirt or

    jacket the extra cost would be $5.00 for each item.If you are interested we will have samples at the

    Club Xmas Party but Opt. Dan has to place theorder shortly after the meeting to guarantee theseprices so we need your order by then. You do nothave to pay for the items until they arrive.

    Hi Everyone!First and Foremost I want to say how Proud I

    am to be associated with such a wonderful group ofpeople. The Team Work that has taken placeduring the past month is more than fantastic.Congratulation to everyone! The time and effort that

    everyone put forth to produce the Optimist Floatfor the Santa Claus Parade was over the top. Youreally showed the Milton Community that we areback on the map. Unfortunately I became ill andmissed out on most of the activities but what reallymade my day on Nov 22nd was the visit to my homewith the float and a large group of OptimistMembers. I will never forget it.

    Pressing on to greater achievements of thefuture, we are in the process of setting up newcommittees to look after Community and FundRaising Events. Please become involved. At our

    next dinner meeting we will be requesting thatevery member sign up to assist with a CommunityEvent.. We are again looking for more newmembers, please speak to a friend, neighbour,co-worker about jointing our TEAM.

    I have big shoes to fill to follow Optimist DanSniders performance during the last year. By theTeam Work that you have already shown I knowthat we can do it.

    It was just announced that we have beenawarded a $10,000.00 grant from The Town ofMilton Community Fund to assist with the purchase

    of a Hot Dog Cart and for up grades to our existingChip Wagon. A Big Thank You to all of themembers that helped put the application together.Again it was TEAM WORK!

    Over the next few months we will be looking athow we do our fund raising and if improvementscan be made . If anyone has any thoughts or ideason how we can improve our funds raising eventsplease contact me. I will also be in contact with GoTransit in the near future to renew our agreementfor another year for our Sunday Night Cruises.

    Another season of Optimist TV Bingo is welunderway under the direction of Opt. Linda RickerThis year we have 4 bingo callers: Opt. Linda aswell as Opt. Jeff Knapman, Opt. Bruce Nicholsonand Opt. Mike Ricker. We supply two people eachTues. evening from 6:15 -7:30 p.m. to helpanswering phones or record numbers so give Opt.Linda a call (905-876-1331) if you are willing andshe will be more than happy to put you on a team.

    MEETING NIGHT CHANGES

    Just a quick reminder that our dinner and Boardmeetings in December are shifted due to the dinnermeeting being our Club Christmas Dinner Meetingand the fact that we also do our Yule Log Draw atthat meeting. The Dinner Meeting will be in theBanquet Room at the Sports Centre onThurs. Dec. 10. Hopefully some of our friends fromO.C. of Oakville will be in attendance.

    Our monthly Board Meeting will be in ourregular room on Thurs. Dec. 17.

    KIDS XMAS PARTY - THIS SUNDAY

    Remember the Kids Xmas Party this Sunday,Dec. 6. If you can make it set-up starts at 11:00a.m. and the party is from Noon to 2:00 p.m. in theBanquet Room at the Sports Centre. Opt. Ruthsays all help is appreciated even if you can onlymake it for an hour or so.
