The class representatives for the Student Representative Council will be elected in early February 2016. The students are all to be congratulated on their presentations. All were of an extremely high standard. School Leaders for 2016 will be announced at assembly tomorrow, Friday 4 th December, 2015. ASSEMBLY WILL COMMENCE AT 2.30PM THIS WEEK as there are other presentations to be made. These are the Neil Angus Achievement Award and the Kiwanis Terrific Kids Awards. Our FINAL assembly for the 2015 school year will be held on THURSDAY, 10 th December, commencing at 2.30. 365 DAYS OF THE EDUCATION STATE Last week I was fortunate to attend the Education State Leaders Assembly at Parliament House, where the Deputy Premier and the Education Minister, James Merlino; the Minister for Families and Children, Jenny Mikakos and the Minister for Training and Skills, Steve Herbert updated the invited education stakeholders to discuss the first year of the Education State. Those invited represented sectors supporting children and young people from birth to tertiary education. In brief discussion encompassed: (1) Early Childhood - Helping children engage in learning earlier; boosting educational quality, supporting parents and carers and ensuring inclusive and accessible Early Years Services for all. (2) Schools Keeping the government’s promises, camps, sports and excursions fund, affordable school uniforms programme (State Schools ‘Relief), breakfast clubs, glasses for students, delivering excellence and breaking the cycle of disadvantage, building the Education State, technical schools, excellence in teaching and learning, supporting our schools.

LEADERS

On Thursday 26th November elections for 2016

School Leaders was held. The class representatives

for the Student Representative Council will be

elected in early February 2016.

The students are all to be congratulated on their

presentations. All were of an extremely high

standard. School Leaders for 2016 will be

announced at assembly tomorrow, Friday 4th

December, 2015.

ASSEMBLY WILL COMMENCE AT 2.30PM

Last week I was fortunate to attend the Education

Review, restoring quality to the Victorian

We are all looking forward to the next 365 days

of the Education in Victoria, as we work closely

with other sectors, departments, agencies and

organisations.

CURRICULUM DAY

On Friday 11th December, the focus of the day for

staff will be the “multi-sensory approach to

teaching literacy.”

This is a student-free day, so please ensure you

have this written in your diaries.

LOST PROPERTY

END OF YEAR IS FAST APPROACHING

LAST CHANCE TO CLAIM

It is really incredible to see so many

unnamed items of school uniform and the

ever increasing number of unclaimed

articles of clothing. I ask parents to please

check the Lost Property trolley if they are

missing any school uniform garments.

Please check the name on your school jackets in

case you have accidently picked up the wrong one.

PAYMENT OF REQUISITES

DON’T FORGET payment for student requisites

and materials for 2016 can be made anytime at the

school office between 8.00am and 4.30pm or by the

direct deposit details on the notice. In addition, the

school office will be open on Wednesday 27th

January, 2016, between 9.00am and 12.00 noon.

EARLY PAYMENT

Once again, as an incentive for early

payment, we are offering a ticket in a

draw for one student’s contribution to

be free. This draw will take place

tomorrow Friday 4th December, 2015.

EXCEL MUSIC OPEN LESSON DAY

On Monday 14th December EXCEL

MUSIC will be hosting an Open

Lesson Day. Parents will have the

opportunity to attend their child’s

lesson and observe the progress that has been

achieved during the course of the year. It also

enables students to perform for an audience which

is very important for

their musical development and personal growth.

VICTORIAN STATE SCHOOLS

SPECTACULAR 2015

SATURDAY 5th DECEMBER - 7pm to 9pm Do not miss the Channel Seven two-hour broadcast

featuring segments of this year's live Victorian State

Schools Spectacular! We have twenty students from

Burwood Heights Primary School performing in the

mass dance items.

For the first time, the show will be streamed on

7Live, which is a one-off chance to view the

Spectacular online at the same time as it is

televised.

OSHClub News

After School Care Program

Program Update 03.12.15

Hi all,

This week at OSHClub was Building Week! We have been building lots of cool

things and playing some very fun games!

We also celebrated Layla’s Birthday at OSHClub

Next week we are excited for GAMES WEEK. It is always so popular and the children

have asked to have it one last time before the end of year.

Please note that Friday the 11th is a curriculum day, so keep an eye on your emails as we

will soon announce if we will be running a program on this day.
