Parents, you would have received a text message in the last couple of days informing you that our Science Symposi- um has sadly had to be moved to the 9 th December. I do apologise for any inconvenience caused. Finally, a VERY important safeguarding message. We have become aware that a number of our pupils are using Snapchat on their mobile phones. Some pupils have been quite open that they are hiding this from their par- ents. Snapchat’s own guidance states that children must be over the age of 13 to use this service and a number of concerns have been raised naonally with Snapchat ranging from grooming to online bullying. There have been a number of messages sent between pupils at St. Margaret’s and at other local schools, somemes with parents geng involved. Firstly, parents do make it a roune to check what is on your child’s mobile phone. If they are hiding their phone from you then you should really queson the reason behind this. Secondly, if your child does have any malicious or concerning messages please do not delete these but rather show them to the school, or if there is an immediate threat outside of the school day, to the police. Finally, I do also need to remind parents again that it is NEVER appropriate to challenge another parent’s child - in person or online. Parents who connue to do this may well find the maer referred to the police. I would like to thank you all for your support in helping us safeguard all pupils at St. Margaret’s. Our Christmas preparations continue! Yesterday afternoon we had our advent service at St. Margaret’s Church led by our Chair of Governors, Canon Ade Ademola and Assistant Head, Mr Wakeford. We were reminded of the importance of advent and

the need to stay focussed on Jesus during this precious time.

In addition, my office door has been open each afternoon allowing me to hear the wonderful singing as our youngest children continue to rehearse for their nativity next week. Parents in Reception and Nursery, I do hope you will be joining us as we celebrate the birth of Jesus and enjoy the talents of our marvellous children. Parents, you would have received a text message in the last couple of days informing you that our Science Symposi-um has sadly had to be moved to the 9th December. I do apologise for any inconvenience caused. Finally, a VERY important safeguarding message. We have become aware that a number of our pupils are using Snapchat on their mobile phones. Some pupils have been quite open that they are hiding this from their par-ents. Snapchat’s own guidance states that children must be over the age of 13 to use this service and a number of concerns have been raised nationally with Snapchat ranging from grooming to online bullying. There have been a number of messages sent between pupils at St. Margaret’s and at other local schools, sometimes with parents getting involved. Firstly, parents do make it a routine to check what is on your child’s mobile phone. If they are hiding their phone from you then you should really question the reason behind this. Secondly, if your child does have any malicious or concerning messages please do not delete these but rather show them to the school, or if there is an immediate threat outside of the school day, to the police. Finally, I do also need to remind parents again that it is NEVER appropriate to challenge another parent’s child - in person or online. Parents who continue to do this may well find the matter referred to the police. I would like to thank you all for your support in helping us safeguard all pupils at St. Margaret’s. Have a wonderful weekend

Our school Christmas tree has been provided by The Christmas Forest, who is opening

their pop-up shop in

Lee Valley on 22nd November. They will be selling a fabulous selection of sustainably

grown, freshly cut

Christmas trees all handpicked for their quality. There will be different varieties and a huge

range of sizes all

displayed in a forest- like setting. Holly, wreaths, mistletoe and treats for the kids too. For

every tree sold, they

donate to plant a tree in the African drylands through Tree Aid (treeaid.org.uk), changing

lives for thousands of

some of the poorest families in the world. Come and wander through and pick your per-

fect Christmas tree and

enjoy an extra festive glow knowing your trees means something more, not just for Christ-

mas.
