Principals Note As the school has conducted the Term 1 Parent Information evenings I have had the privilege of meeting many of our parents. It has been a pleasure to share these meetings with families and teachers who are excited about the learning opportunities that our school offers for 2017. Of course our core business is literacy and numeracy learning, underpinned by the understandings gained from the social and emotional learning of Play Is The Way’. The positive impact across the school is evident in feedback we receive from our families, the settled and positive school environment, teachers engagement in their work and students enthusiasm to come to school. At the commencement of the year I accepted a new responsibility, involving providing part time support for other school principals. This will involve visiting other schools and working with my colleagues to benefit students in our schools. As part of the ongoing development of Inverell PS I had previously identified the importance of supporting other members of the school executive team to learn more about the principals role. Structures are in place to ensure that our school will continue its smooth operation on the days that I am working with other schools. Of course my availability to the students, staff and parents of Inverell PS is a top priority and will not be reduced. This situation has arisen because our school is a great school that is focused on continual progression in providing an education for our students that prepares them for the future. Warm Regards Robyn Stewart IPS Swimming Carnival Champions Last Friday, 37 students represented our school with pride at the Zone Swimming Carnival. Every student who attended displayed excellent sportsmanship and strived to excel. Many students set new PBs and/or walked away with ribbons. Congratulations to Ruby Fuller, Charlie Wall and Charles Grills, who were named Zone Age Champions! Thank you to all family members who attended and cheered on our students. We hope that your voices hold out for next Monday, where 19 of our swimmers will be representing the Inverell Zone at the Regional Carnival in Armidale. We wish these students all the best and have no doubt that they will continue to make us proud!
