BOOK WEEK The theme for Book Week 2018 was "Find Your Treasure". Our students completed lots of activities with shortlisted books including: book reviews involving a very noisy baby, a treasure hunt searching for lots of book titles and characters, comprehension tasks, drama scripts and the lovely company of Mrs Greig and Miss Newton.

We all had an enjoyable time even though we didn’t get a place. For lunch we had Chicken schnitzels and potato salad, and for desert we had a delicious apple strudel. We would like to thank Mrs Leach for organising this event and Mr Fuller for taking a car. We all had a great day and enjoyed the experience of competing against other schools.

SRC At the Desert Enduro over the weekend the SRC gave everyone a sugar high by selling jam donuts. It was fantastic to see all the SRC members working well together to cook and serve their donuts to the eager public at 8:30 in the morning! While we only expected to sell about 400 we ended up selling 1000 hot gooey treats and were absolutely blown away by that effort. A huge thank you to all of our members who helped out and the staff who were there to make sure it was flowing smoothly.

Rainbow P-12 participate at the Enduro

Dreamchasers On Friday 10th August the Dreamchasers of 2018 gathered everything for their drink stall they ran at the Rainbow Desert Enduro. We collected tables, chairs, deep fryers for the SRC as well as our posters and new banners to promote the school. Next stop was the IGA where we picked up our drinks. We then went to the Enduro site on Bow Hill and set up our stall in the marquee. On Saturday we set out our stall goods ready for a big day of sales to the spectators, drivers, oit crew, officials and the public. We sold a substantial amount of drinks & chocolates and were also entristed to sell can holders and raffle tickets for the Enduro committee. We were kindly asked by the Year 3/4 kids to have their drought fundraiser tins on our stall. Thank you to everyone who offered to help us get through the weekend . Another big thankyou to Mr Glover for his guidance throughout this experience. Thank you to everyone who purchased drinks & chocolates to go towards our fundraising journey,

Junior Cluster Day On Monday 13th August the Rainbow P-12 Junior School ventured over to see an impressive production of the fractured fairy tale combo entitled “Little Red Riding Robyn Hood.” It was an action packed show with lots of jokes, dancing and singing. The horses and archery competition were a definite standout. After recess the all Cluster students were divided into groups and took part in a series of short & sharp activities. These included an obstacle course/circuit, designing a magical creature, creating a comic strip and movie poster and fairy tales in a minute. Students then all enjoyed lunch and a play together before meeting in the stadium to be involved in the group bridge building competition. It was great to see all the students from the different schools mixing and socialising so well together. A big thank you goes out to the good folks at Jeparit PS for booking the production and to at Hopetoun P-12 (especially Mrs Trudi Hallam) for hosting and organising the activities for the day.

CLUSTER DAY PERFORMANCE by Addison Fisher On Monday 13th of August, we went to Hopetoun for a performance and other activities. When we got to Hopetoun, we got off the bus and then watched an amazing performance called “Little Red Riding Robyn Hood”. The main character was King George Paul Ringo. After the play we did other activities like art, drama, PE and English. Then it was lunch time. After lunch we had to make a bridge in teams using newspaper and 2 metres of masking tape. I was in the blue group. Mrs Hallam tested the bridges to see which one would hold the most weight. I had a fantastic day because I saw other students that I remembered from the other cluster schools.

CLUSTER DAY AT HOPETOUN by Jacob Boyle On Monday we went to the Cluster Day at Hopetoun P-12 College and did some interesting activities. First we saw the play “Little Red Riding Robyn Hood”. I liked it when the king kept changing his wigs. He was funny. Next we had play time outside. It was great to play on some different play equipment. After play we rotated around activities like scarecrow tiggy, tag and target throw. I caught Declyn five times but he caught me back in another game. The last activity was building a bridge with 2 metres of tape and newspaper. It was the best day ever because we got to do lots of fun things.

Grade 3/4 Thoughts on Cluster Day

I liked making the paper bridges in small groups as it was challenging. Sally, Gr 4 I enjoyed the part where Little Red Riding Robyn scared off the tax collectors by shooting arrows.

Oscar, Gr 3. A highlight of the performance was when Little Red Riding Robyn defeated the King in an archery

competition. Will, Gr4. The Round-a-bout song was funny. The 2 knights were riding their horses named Selina Gomez and John

Cena. Ryder, Gr 3. The drama activity was interesting as we had to act a fairy tale with a twist. Dustin, Gr 4.
