Year 3SO As a consequence of Bianca Gatherum’s appointment as Assistant Principal, Simon Orenshaw has been asked to take up the vacant Physical Education position. Simon’s qualifications and energy for PE are clearly recognised and he will take up the PE position at the start of Term 2. In order to find a high quality teacher to replace Simon Orenshaw in Year 3 a position has been advertised through the Department of Education and Training’s HR System. The majority of our students who are on time and arrive at their classroom by the required time of 8:50am have the opportunity to get organised for the day and are ready for the 9:00am learning session. Teachers are on duty from 8:35am-8:50am and many children enjoy playing with their friends in the yard before school. This is a fun and relaxing way to start their school day. Late arrival close to or after 9:00am means that the class is interrupted and the teacher has to repeat instructions for each individual late student. While we understand that occasionally things go wrong in the mornings and we can be held up, being punctual for school is a great habit to instil in our children. As they get older they need to take more responsibility for being on time, but at primary school it is a family effort. We ask parents to assist their children to be on time. Hopefully all students F-6 will be at their classroom door by 8:50am in the future. Staff List and Contact Details For your information we have again included photos, roles and email contacts of all staff members in today’s newsletter. Staff will aim to answer any emails from parents in a timely manner. Please note that staff members have teaching and learning commitments all day and personal commitments after hours. We will endeavour to answer all emails within 48 hours. Messages of an urgent nature should always be communicated to staff via the school office.

School Leadership Message – Glenn Butler, Christian Holdsworth and Anne Ng

End of Term – Finishing Time

With the end of Term 1 approaching it is appropriate to remind everyone that Thursday, 29th of March is last day of term and the finishing time is 2:30 pm. I encourage all parents to note the earlier finish and ensure that all students are picked up within fifteen minutes of the finishing time. Students will be dismissed by their class teachers.

Assistant Principal Appointment

The process of advertising, shortlisting and interviewing applicants for the role of Assistant Principal – Assessment & Reporting has been completed. Congratulations to Bianca Gatherum who will commence her work in this new role at the start of Term 2. Bianca brings a wealth of experience to the role, having been a valued staff member of the Mount View team for over fifteen years. Her organisational and people skills, coupled with her enthusiasm and knowledge will be complementary to the school’s Executive Leadership Team including the Principal and the other Assistant Principals, Alison Rees and Christian Holdsworth.

Year 3SO

As a consequence of Bianca Gatherum’s appointment as Assistant Principal, Simon Orenshaw has been asked to take up the vacant Physical Education position. Simon’s qualifications and energy for PE are clearly recognised and he will take up the PE position at the start of Term 2. In order to find a high quality teacher to replace Simon Orenshaw in Year 3 a position has been advertised through the Department of Education and Training’s HR System. This vacancy will be filled prior to the start of Term 2 and the new teacher will be supported by school leadership and the Year 3 Team to ensure that the learning program for students in 3SO will continue without disruption.

Punctuality in the Morning

The issue of students arriving late to class in the morning continues to disrupt the class and student learning.
