People enjoy being around positive people. Positive people do positive things. They take responsible chances. They try their best. They don’t give up and they make the most of every situation good or bad. They enjoy most of what they do and help others to have a good time as well. Certainly at times we need to look at the bad or the dangerous side of things and take them into consideration when making our decisions. However, we do not get car- ried away with all the bad things. It is important to enjoy the situation you are in and try to look at each one positively, even when things are difficult. If nothing else, a tough situation will help you to learn about how well you cope with hard times, and you might be able to plan better for next time. For students this includes something new they are learning at school. For adults it can be how to best cope in these tough economic times. It may be staying positive when hearing bad news eg sickness of a relative, a car accident, even losing one’s job. Be positive and persevere not only in the good time but when things get difficult. This positive attitude will help you solve the problems involved. Smiling is a good way to stay positive as this affects the people around you and you will become more positive as a result as well. BLOOMING GREAT KIDS TERM 3 TOPIC 21

Learning Topics—Being Positive

Being positive is a great attitude to have. However, we do not get car-ried away with all the bad things.

This term in Integrated Studies we explored biomes and invesgated the

flora and fauna that live in them. We then created our own animals to

suit a parcular environment; to do this we had to consider the climate,

terrain and the plants and animals that would be found in that biome.

Here are some photos of us creang our imaginary animals.

Fish and Bok Choy Noodle Sr Fry With delicious Asian flavours this fish and bok choy sr fry is served with hokkien noodles

and tastes so good your whole family will love it. Add some sweet chilli sauce on top if you

like it a li1le spicy

Ingredients:

• 450g packet hokkien noodles

• 2 teaspoons sesame oil, plus one tablespoon more for fish

• 2 cloves of garlic, sliced

• 1 tablespoon ginger, minced

• 1 onion, quartered and chopped

• 500g boneless fish fillets, such as Ling

• 1 tablespoon salt-reduced soy sauce

• 4 baby Bok Choy, bo1om sliced off and washed well

• 1/3 cup oyster sauce

• Juice of ½ lime

Method:

1. If using long shelf-life noodles, remove from the packet and place in a bowl. Cover in

boiling water and allow to sit for around 5 minutes or unl the noodles break up. Drain

and set aside, or cut up it to easy-to-eat lengths.

2. Bring a wok or large non-sck frying pan to a high heat, and then add 2 teaspoons

oil. Add the garlic, ginger, and onion and cook for one minute tossing around so the

garlic doesn't burn.

3. Add the extra tablespoon oil and the fish and cook for about 5 minutes unl nearly

cooked through.

4. Add the soy sauce to the wok, keeping the fish and vegetables constantly moving to

avoiding stewing.

5. Add the Bok Choy, oyster sauce and noodles and allow the noodles to warm through

as the fish to finishes cook through. Sr through the lime juice and serve

immediately. This recipe was created by Krisne Duran-Thiessen for Kidspot
