mischief's. Religious fervor and traditional happiness marked the

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS
“Moments pass but memories don’t”. Although, the auspicious day of 15th August, 1947 has passed, but still every independence day from then sprinkles a wave of
freedom and pride in every Indian mind. Feelings of patriotism rule every heart and
the throat gets eager to shout in the open air .“VANDE MATARAM”. Independence Day, is indeed a festive time for the nation which spent
more than a hundred years under the colonial yoke-a nation that was
exploited bruised, maimed, but which did not lose its values and achieved
freedom without compromising on the ideals it upheld. It is a befitting day
to commemorate the freedom fighters, a glowing tribute to the great
nation that we are and the global super power we are poised to be. The
school hosted the Independence Day on 12th
August, 2011. The students
participated with full zeal and enthusiasm. Being a rainy day, it was
difficult to organize the function but fortunately, it turned out to be a
huge success.

FRUIT MART
(NURSERY WING)
VEGETABLE SALAD ACTIVITY
Healthy mind resides in a healthy body as it brings joy and delight to us. To enliven this value in our little tiny tots, Salad Making Activity was organized on 1 September 2011
To inculcate a good habit of eating fruits and avoiding junk food children of Pre-School and pre-Primary organized a fruit shop on 11 August 2011 (Thursday) in school premises. Variety of fruits like Mango, Pineapple, Apple, Papaya etc were displayed .
TODDLER’S TREND NURSERY — III
Fruit period
Fruits ! Yummy !
I simply love eating them.
Mangoes, oranges, bananas, give me all
I can finish them in a minute.
Fruits make me healthy and strong.
They keep me active in the class .
Daily in the school before my lunch break,
I get a fruit break .
Bringing a fruit daily in my school is must.
I never miss it.
My mother makes it sure to give me daily and
I make sure to gobble it up fast.

ONE DAY
One day I will be all grown up.
And ready for a job.
May be I’ll be a T V reporter,
Like my uncle Bob.
Or may be I’ll be a football star.
And sign my name for fans.
Or maybe I’ll be a singer in a famous
band.
Or maybe I’ll be an astronaut
And fly in outer space.
Or may be I’ll be a doctor
Like my cousin ace.

FAST FOOD HAZARDS
The life style of children has gone a vast change, as my mother says. We have become our own masters. We
love spicy and delicious fast food. The Overeating this type of food makes us fat, very fat.
With heavy body we cannot run and we cannot enjoy playing outside. Because of this habit only one of my classmates has become a diabetic. My parents and teachers had always advised me to avoid harmful junk food and drinks. I have decided to pay serious attention to that. Now I understand that this
yummy junk food is very bad for my tummy. Bhavya Batra

IF I WERE A FOOTBALL
Football is very good to play with. But if I were a football I would be kicked thousands times a day. How painful it would be. Kicked here, kicked there with only goalkeeper to
take care. No, I don’t want to be a football. I can be anything but certainly not the football.

TEACHERS ARE FUN Teachers are fun, teachers are joy
They make men out of little boys
Teachers are like candles, burning bright
They teach us the importance of vision and foresight
They share our joys, they share our tears
They tell us what is courage, they tell us what are fears
They are like conductors coordinating a band
Whenever we are in need they lend a helping hand.
Teachers in M.P.S are one of kind
They are a breed, very hard to find
I thank you all teachers
I wish you a long life and happiness each day.

IMPORTANCE OF SILENCE PERIOD
All of us are very familiar with the saying” silence is golden”. This brings to our minds the importance of keeping silence in the classrooms while studying . Silence is the essence of disciplined education. Silence and discipline go hand in hand.
In the temple, gurudwara, church or mosque disciplined people observe silence.
“Why do we keep silence there?”
These are scared places and we have to keep the purity of these places intact. School is also a scared place. It is the temple of learning so we should keep up the purity of schools and keep up the discipline.
There are many good reasons for the students to observe silence in schools. Silence helps in preserving energy as well as being attentive during study time. It enhances the ability for creativity. It improves observation power of the child. Thus he can gain more and more knowledge. And this creates a feeling of neatness and purity in the school atmosphere itself. If the child concentrates, there won’t be any problem of not understanding.
Keeping silence has a dominant place in school. A school without silence is like a body without a soul.

LISTEN
Look around! Try to hear
Can’t you hear the shrieks of many?
People are suffering next door
Try to listen, you’ll hear for sure.
A Hindu butchered
Another Muslim slaughtered
Nobody won
But humanity lost.
Try to listen, you’ll hear some more
A child wasted before birth
Just she wasn’t a boy!
She is in tears, listen to her cries.
A bride burnt in her wedding attire
Never ever was this her desire
To be massacred
In her prime
For not bringing enough brass
Can’t you hear her call?
Please try to hear
The noise outside
And the whispers inside
Aren’t the question marks audible?
Anjali Kansal
VII C
TAKE TIME TO REWIND
Take time to rewind
Your life in your mind.
Clear away cobwebs that wind
The child in you, try to find
See them through a haze
Those lovely, bygone days
Relive, rework that maze
That still manages to daze.
Bury the sorrows, treasure the joys
Recall those games, cherish those toys
Turn your ears to that cheerful noise.
Retreat bring back your pristine poise.
Jump over the fence
Retrace footsteps in this jungle dense
Feel a pleasure immense
Return to innocence.

SENIOR’S SPEAK IX — XII
I BELIEVE IN MY
INNER STRENGTH
I believe in my inner strength
The power that gives me the courage to defend
Truth, right thought and action
And not to succumb to someone’s might
It gives me the power to stand upright
And never give up without a fight
It gives me the confidence I need in every field to succeed
It builds up my morale
And in face of adversities never let me fall
It checks me with an angel’s voice
Every time I make a wrong choice
In all, it makes me a better person
Helping me to be a better version

SILENT DEEDS
When weariness of life
distresses us
The great magician
blesses us
He has no voice
Yet He whispers to
millions
He has no ears
Yet HE listens to billions
His presence is unleft
Yet that sense sublime
dwells in everything
He is unseen
Yet His divine spark is in
every being
If detested is your reflection
He will sprinkle some affection
Before any request our wish is granted
Without any condition we get what we wanted
He bestows upon his benevolence
This kindness further should be shared
With less fortunate, deprived and wearied
Silently let the stream of mercy flow
Never let the other hand even know
A moment of concentrated prayer will do
What hours of shouting failed to do
There’s no special time or age for devotion
Little acts of charity, a few loving words
Conceiving and considering others’ emotions
To pay off debts what all we got
Grab and avail the present hour
Lest we’re labeled as an ungrateful lot .

SENIORS’ SPEAK IX — XII
TAKE TIME TO FIND HAPPINESS FOR YOURSELF
“Life is a tragedy for those who feel, and comedy for those who think“ said Shakespeare.
Life is a mixed yarn of joys and sorrows when we are treated well at the hands of others, we feel happy. When we pass an examination, win a scholarship or score a victory over our adversity, we feel joyous and we have sufficient money to spend, we feel exalted. But injustice, failure, Illness and a number of other ills are responsible for our happiness right from morning till we sleep at night; we have several phases of sorrow and joy. It is the state of mind that makes man happy or unhappy. Some people are surrounded with many difficulties and yet they smile. Some create difficulties for themselves and become unhappy. If we develop the habit of feeling contented, it will go a long way to make us happy. People who give up love of wealth and power are generally better than those who run after money and position. The greatest cause for our unhappiness is misfortunes, accidents and deception. The death of those whom we love dearly, makes us unhappy. Accidents, diseases cause a lot of pain and some of these are not in our control. The two greatest enemies of happiness are misunderstanding and jealousy. We should not believe and think without properly verifying it, and we should not feel jealous of others. This will increase our happiness.

PLEASURE BEING “SOMEONE”
Being selected as the head girl of the institution where you have gained education, right from the kindergarten days when you were too young to distinguish between right and wrong, is a matter of immense pleasure in itself.
I still cherish the memory of the day when I was declared the head girl of my school. Years back I stepped into this institution with a hope to become successful and this designation seems to be the first stepping stone towards it. It has been a wonderful experience being the Head Girl.
I whole heartedly thank my Principal ma’am and my teachers who showed their faith in my capabilities; this enhanced my qualities outshined my personality. I learnt that nothing is impossible here. You receive co-operation to the extent you are co-operative. I learnt that when you show appreciation, only then you’ll be appreciated.
During this period, I learnt to create a group of people who can work together in a spirit of perfect harmony. I have learnt to be a patient listener. Before asking others to be disciplined first I had to discipline myself…so I have to mend my ways accordingly.
To sum up, it feels great in being “SOMEONE”.
Shristi Budhiraja XI A
SENIORS’ SPEAK IX — XII
Value education “I fight a battle everyday against discouragement and fear
Some foe stands always in my way, the path ahead is never clear.
One frequently hears from the elders that the children of today are going astray because
their schools fail to help them build their character. However, there can be no doubt that
the country needs a strong value education system which would inoculate among the
students universal values and would result in their all-round development. Some people
believe-‘Values are not taught, they are caught’. But I think the statement has a
two-sided view. Values cannot be taught by mere dictation but there should be a unique
and a devised way of teaching by mixing values with the environment.
Since I am an adolescent, I feel the need to raise the problems and worries of my peers.
Definitely most of us feel that values are seeping and crime rate is increasing in this age
group. Stanley Halls, a famous psychologist calls adolescence as a period of stress and
strain. It is a crucial time in an individual’s life when one faces new challenges, learn
new skills and lead more independent lives. At this stage youth is striving for an identity
with himself and in the society. They are curious to peep out of the window to the outer
world and in execution of their adventurous ideas end up in their committing severe
crimes.
Of course, during adolescence risk taking behavior is more common. In their teens young
people may experiment with illicit drugs, drink alcohol while underage or drive vehicles
without a license or before reaching the legal age limit. Young people may also
congregate in public places and engage in behaviour that is anti-social or a public
nuisance.
Today’s educated youth is also committing crimes and definitely we have to put a big halt
on it. But, through value education…it doesn’t sound to be appropriate.
It is said that ‘Families must work together to bridge whatever is missing their children’s
life’. The key to the problem of violence among the youth is only based on spiritual and
family values. Love and trust are not the only words, but principles, that if followed and
drummed into the young ones at early stages will provide a foundation for the rest of
their lives. But such big words don’t suit our youngsters. The
foundation can never be strong…as values are inbuilt, and they
cannot be inculcated.
From the above it is crystal clear that value education is not the only
way to reduce crime rate among educated youth. The real essence of
values is in adopting them in our day to day lives. Crime can surely
be excavated from society and youth, what is required a strong will.
