Give up harsh words: use generous ones. Give up unhappiness: take up gratude. Give up anger: take up gentleness and paence. Give up pessimism: take up hope and opmism. Give up worrying: take up trust in God. Give up complaining: value what you have. Give up stress: take up prayer. Give up judging others: discover Jesus within them. Give up sorrow and bierness: fill your heart with joy. Give up selfishness: take up compassion for others. Give up being unforgiving: learn reconciliaon. Give up words: fill yourself with silence, and listen to others.

The liturgical colour for Lent is purple, used for two reasons: firstly because it is associated with mourning

and so anticipates the pain and suffering of the crucifixion, and secondly because purple is the colour

associated with royalty, and celebrates Christ's resurrection and sovereignty.

KEY STAGE 3 NEWS

YEAR 8 VISIT PARIS KEY STA

Last week, over eighty Year 8 students visited France. Their

trip included visits to Paris, the Eiffel Tower, Disneyland and

Vimy Ridge, a World War I memorial. Some even managed

to try 'escargot' before they left - snails!

advises against all overseas education trips for children under 18. This

does not apply to domestic trips, or overseas trips which are already underway.

CARDINAL WISEMAN STUDENTS TO TAKE PART IN NATIONAL CAREERS RESEARCH Next week, learners in Years 10 and 11 and the Sixth Form will take part in some national research into careers.

Ishaal Aleem, 7E, is the latest double millionaire in Year7.

Along with the Harry Potter books, she has also read outside her comfort zone

with the Coventry Inspiration Book Awards and Agatha Christie novels.

As part of their learning, either at home or in tutor time, the learners will take part in a short survey for 15, 16 and 17 year olds to find out what they know about careers and one career in particular. They will also get the chance to take part in a second stage of research at the school which will involve interviews and their opinion on products. Watch this space for updates on this exciting experience.

In another assembly this week, staff from the Romero HR department gave an insightful presentation to all of our sixth formers on 'Rights and Responsibilities in the Workplace'.

Thank you to Nicola and Heather for giving up their time to speak with our students and give them such a useful insight into the world of work.

Mrs Campbell

Assembly focus for Year 13 was 'The Leitner System for Long-Term Memory Recall'.

Mrs Campbell gave information on how to use this technique when students are using flashcards for revision. Furthermore, all sixth form teachers have identified three clear tasks for their subject, that students can refer to during their independent study.
