Racing News for Buddy's Blizzard #1TRANSCRIPT
There is n o question in
my mind after a long cold and rainy winter
Blizzard To “Kick Start” SSS SeasonYou will see drivers
such as Augie Grill, Bubba Pollard, Daniel Hemric, Johanna Long and Donnie Wilson, (see story inside) who finally won in Nashville, along with a host of other great competitors. Also on tonight’s card with the “Kick Start” 125 will be the Pro Trucks, Sportsman and Bombers.
The Supers will regroup and move
on to Mobile Inter-national Speedway Saturday night for the Miller Lite 125. After this weekend you may see a real SHAKE-UP in the Southern Super Series points, but I’ll just be willing to bet you Bowen, Grissom and Roderick will be on top of their game to keep this from happening.
We hope your favor-ite driver finishes
well and we also hope to see you Saturday at Mobile, and Monday nite on BLAB-TV. Until then, be safe and WE’LL SEE YOU AT THE RACES!!
If you love the Super Late Models then
we have something in common. We all should be very happy tonight as some of the best Super Late Model driv-ers in the nation are here to race in the first of four Buddy’s Home Furnishings Blizzard Series Races. It will also be race number 3 in the 16 race schedule for the Southern Super Series. Top 20 points on page 2.
The top three in the Southern Super
Series points may not be what you expected, but believe me, they have earned them and when tonights race is complete they expect to remain at the top of the standings. Ander-son Bowen leads slight-ly over Kyle Grissom and Casey Roderick, (pictured on the right) who by the way, took home top honors last month in the Rattler 250 at South Alabama Speedway in Opp, as Bowen came home a close second. All three of these drivers also finished well at Fair-grounds Speedway in Nashville, and don’t expect any less from them tonight. Casey Roderick

He loves Five Flags Speedway. He loves it not. Some 800 miles away, just outside of Oklahoma City, Okla., Donnie Wilson tells you through his cell phone that Five Flags is his favorite asphalt to race on. Perhaps distance makes the heart grow fonder.
In the 15-plus years the 43-year-old late model driver has come to Pensacola, he remains in search for his first win. But on the heels of a milestone victory last month, Wilson is riding a wave of momentum. He’s hopeful that slump is nearing its end.
“Led a lotta laps down there; it just ain’t happened yet,” Wilson said. “Pensacola, you never know what you’re going to get. You could have the same stuff every time, and get a different result every time.”
A field that also includes the likes of Johanna Long, defending Southern Super Series champ Daniel Hemric and some of the biggest young stars and veterans in short-track racing.
“These races are so tough, so compet-itive,” Wilson said. “Anytime you can score a top three, you gotta be happy with that. That’s the way I look at it. Of course we wanna win, but with the caliber of guys we’re running against, it’s hard to beat them. They’re good.”
Wilson is riding high after claiming the second SSS race of the season earlier this month in Nashville.
He finished second in the race, but was awarded the win after John Hunter Nemechek was disqualified in post-race technical inspection. “We didn’t get the win like we would’ve wanted to,” Wilson said. “But we had a fast car, and that’s a good thing.”
Wilson always brings a rocket ship to Pensacola’s high banks. Despite never hoisting a checkered flag, he has a hauler full of seconds and top-five finishes. Wilson might be remem-bered best at Five Flags for his duel with Long coming down the stretch of the 2010 Snowball Derby. Long ulti-mately prevailed, but Wilson earned a loyal following that December after-noon.Read Chuck’s entire story at:
