The New Year has begun in the same way as 2011 ended for UCC as it welcomed
more visitors from overseas into school this week with a visit from the Headteacher Juan José Jimenez González and other staff from its Spanish Exchange link school – IES Alba Longa in Armilla, Granada.
The Spanish staff spent two days visiting the College, attending lessons and meeting various staff and students. They were also treated to two days out in Cambridge and Stamford.
Señor González said he was delighted to be visiting the College, meeting so many staff and students after being twinned with UCC since October 2008. He also invited as many people as possible from the College to pay a return visit to IES Alba Longa in the near future.

In November last year, I took my Grade 5 ballet exam. The
results came through and I got a merit. From here, I am going to go into Intermediate.I started ballet when I was 3 and since then I have taken 4 ballet exams. Ballet isn’t what you think it is! As I have been doing ballet for so long, it just comes naturally to me.
I am hoping to get a merit on my Intermediate exam and then go on to join the Birmingham Royal Ballet.

We visited Wisteria House in Uppingham on the 2nd February. This is a lovely place where eldery
residents live. These people are retired and no longer live independantly. They just need a little extra help. We arranged to set up a few activities, which included; playing bingo, playing cards, bar skittles and dominoes. Sarah Smith and Ben Sharman made cakes while they visited and stayed for lunch. Everyone had an enjoyable time.
