To those that wish the club to survive this comment is serious.

Come AGM time we need fresh faces on the committee to run the club, some of us have been there a long time & are overdue for retirement to be fair. They are not that onerous as jobs go, but do require enthusiasm. Also it looks good on a CV when applying for a job that may require leadership skills.

Start thinking about it now & we can guide on your way. Denis

Who’s been doing what lately file

A email from the Howards in Tasmania. (Slightly edited).

Hi Trish & Denis

Nice to hear from you Trish, I have hardly been on Facebook since here in Tasmania. I have finally got a USB device working and getting email in the camper, well it did the other day, yet to try it again. You think Telecom are bad, try Telstra and living in a remote part of the World.

We are on count down now before we leave Tassie we have been here since the 3rd Feb. Just two weeks, the good news is the cabin is going well, we will have the roofing iron on and outside walls papered. Leaving the cabin at least water proof. Eran can then finish off the outside cladding and inside at his leisure. The weather has been excellent allowing us plenty of time on the block. I don’t think we have missed one day through rain. It’s been hard work and Pete and Eran are really tired. They have had to push themselves to achieve what they have while Pete is here. There is no way Eran could have done it on his own. We still call it a cabin, but it is a two bedroom house.

My job has been to keep the boys well, watered and fed, painting, varnishing, scrub clearing, and being there for Matthew while Kerrie is away. As you see working but no income, Pete’s pay is a beer a day and a little whiskey at bed time ☺

We are only home for nine days and then we head to the Gold Coast for a couple of weeks and diving Heron Island.

Geoff rang the other day and had a chat, he said the free diving event went well, shame about the bike (Guest Yoga Instructor’s). The girl should have put it inside, it’s a wonder there is not more theft from down there considering the kayaks etc that are around at times.

Well must away, my day at home to catch up here before I pick Kerrie up from the airport tomorrow. The camper needs attention before we put her in storage again. Kerrie is only home for two weeks before she heads back to Mt Gambier where she is working at the moment. All go, very busy times.

Love to you both, P&M

A bit of laugh for the month

A woman went to the Doctor’s office, where she was seen by one of the new doctors, but after about 4 minutes in the examination room, she burst out screaming as she ran down the hall. An older doctor stopped her and asked what the problem was, and she told him her story. After listening, he had her sit down and told her to go relax in another room. The older doctor marched down the hallway to the back where the first doctor was and demanded, “What’s the matter with you? Mrs. Terry is 63 years old, she has two grown children and several grandchildren, and you told her she was pregnant?” The new doctor continued to write on his clipboard and without looking up said, “Does she still have the hiccups?”

And one for the road

A police officer stopped a car for speeding & saw a dog in the back.

“Does this dog have a licence?” the officer asked the driver.

“Oh no, officer,” said the driver, “I do all the driving myself.”
