Principal Report Welcome back It is always lovely to return after the holiday break to see the students and families refreshed and smiling. Term four is known for its eventful reputation and it certainly will be a busy term with some staff movements as Mrs Johansen goes on leave, kinder and year 6 into 7 transitions, swim school, presentation night, reports and just daily business. As you will see by the term calendar, each week has exciting things happening. The calendar will be updated each newsletter. Absentee Last week we sent home a form that contained dates of unexplained student absences. Please complete, sign and return these so we can update our roll system. Daily Fitness In term 1 and 4 fitness always occurs first up in the morning session due to the warmer weather later in the day. This is the only timetable change for term 4. Miss Carr Teaching Principal Disco Last week’s disco was a great success. Thank you to the Deepwater students and families who helped support this community event for kids. Thank you to Mrs Cuninghame for her assistance with the event. It was also fantastic to see so many students and families from Emmaville and surrounding areas. Next year Emmaville CS will be hosting the next disco. Grandparents Day Celebrations – breakfast & assembly This year we are tweaking our Grandparents Day celebrations a little. We will be starting the day with a breakfast for all guests so it is important that you RSVP ASAP. Following the breakfast we will have our last assembly for the year, then conclude with some past and present games for all. Grandparents day is always open to other family members as well. UNE Voyager Bus The UNE voyager bus will be visiting the school on Friday the 1 st November. Students will be involved in four science sessions that are relevant to the units taught this year. Swim School Swim school will be occurring in weeks 8 & 9 at Emmaville. More information will be sent home at a later date. Kindergarten Orientation Children turning 5 or 6 years are invited to attend kindergarten orientation this term. If you have a child ready to start school, please contact the school to arrange orientation. End of Raffle - P&C donations This year the P&C will be raffling off a beautiful handmade quilt and a mixed hamper. All families are encouraged to bring in an item to be added to the hamper. Community members and organisations are welcome to donate items as well. Please present all items to the front office during office days/hours. Student raffle ticket booklets will go home in coming weeks. New addition to school As you drive past you may notice our scarecrow. We have built a scarecrow for our kitchen garden. Traditionally scarecrows have been used to scare off uninvited visitors to gardens. Students also created their own miniature scarecrow to take home for their own gardens. A big thank you to Mr Farr who supplied all the sticks, clothes and items required to make them.

Each student receives a new toothbrush and toothpaste each term. Thank you Tamworth Oral

Health Centre for supplying these.

Junior cricket will be recommencing at Shirley Park in Tenterfield on Friday 25 October 2019. This season junior cricket will cater for all ages and hard ball cricketers will have the opportunity to play on the turf pitch under lights. There's music and a canteen operating. Registrations on offer include:

• Junior Blasters (for 5-11 year olds) – which builds the skills of younger cricketers with fun, game based activities but also caters to older children who would like to hone their skills and play a short form of the game. Each participant receives an awesome kit including a bat, ball, shirt and hat! Held at the Shirley Park main oval from 5pm-7pm.

• Junior Registration

o Level 1 – young cricketers who are transitioning from soft ball Blaster Cricket – shorter pitch, smaller boundaries & modified ball. Held from 5pm-7pm on the synthetic turf pitch.

o Level 2 – hard ball cricket using 142g leather ball on a full sized pitch – held under lights on the main oval turf pitch from 7pm. (Moved from the proposed Saturday morning timeslot). Tenterfield Junior Cricket recently purchased hard ball cricket equipment which players are welcome to use. Players currently registered to play in Stanthorpe on Saturday are welcome to join in the fun.

Registration is $100 (which is effectively covered by the 2nd 2019 Active Kids Voucher). Register at www.playcricket.com.au – search for Tenterfield and register in Blasters or Junior cricket.

Any parents or High School students who would be interested in being involved in facilitating Junior Blaster cricket, please contact Anne Palfreyman on 0498 175 275 or to assist with Level 1 or 2 Junior cricket please contact Leeza Wishart on 0457 246 064. Queries should also be directed to the same contacts.

BE ALLERGY AWARE Please minimise packing foods containing any

peanuts/nuts this includes peanut butter and nutella sandwiches due to the risk of students

suffering a severe allergic reaction.

Brimmed Hats Our school sun safe policy is, “No hat… play in the shade!”

Little reminder

Could all students please remember to bring their water bottles each day.

With the last two days having power outages - the bubblers do not work.
