Welcome Back Firstly, I would like to extend a very warm welcome back to school to all of our new and existing families. It is lovely to find that the cold weather is well and truly behind us and we can look forward to some beautiful North East spring weather over the weeks to come. We have an incredibly exciting and busy term as always with our School Concert and Graduation still to come throughout the term. End of year reports will provide a wonderful op-portunity to celebrate all that your child has achieved throughout the year. Term 4 is always a great term!! 2019 Planning
We have begun planning for 2019 already this term, with plenty of school leavers but also many new students al-ready confirmed to be starting with us at WDSS next year. At this stage we will be starting the year with 18 classes which is the same as we have currently, which includes the continuation of two satellite classrooms within Appin Park PS. As always, we welcome all feedback and requests from families and where possible try and meet the de-sires of our families. As a Leadership team, we seek feedback from all staff about our class drafts, and group stu-dents taking into account social, emotional and academic needs. New Admin Building At some stage this term, we will be taking delivery of a new Administration relocatable building, to be placed at the front of the school taking up some more of our carpark. This building will be the new reception area for our school and will see members of our leadership team relocate to free up space within our school to cater for expected growth next year. This building is separate to the capital works planning we are doing currently.
SunSmart
As always during Term 4, we will be expecting students to wear broad brimmed hats while accessing the yard at recess and lunch times. Our school is a SunSmart school, and as such we work very hard to teach students about the importance of keeping themselves safe while in the sun. Please reinforce this message with your children and understand that if students do not have a broad brimmed hat, they will be asked to remain indoors or in a shaded space. We will provide sunscreen and hats to as many students as we can, where needed.

Stanley- Bridie and Simon
What a terrific start to the term by the Bogong girls. Who can believe we are in
Term 4 already!
The girls have been enjoying ’girl time’ some afternoons which includes hair braid-
ing, manicures and pedicures, nail painting and make up. To say the girls love it
would be an understatement! During this time the girls are interacting positively
towards each other which encourages building positive relationships with a few
laughs a long the way as well.
Stanley students have returned from holidays refreshed and ready to learn! This term in literacy, we have begun learning about procedural writing. Students are learning to identify the purpose of a procedural text and how to write and follow a procedure. So far, students have sequenced and followed a procedure to make fairy bread and to make a jam sandwich! They were all very proud of themselves and enjoyed eating their creations!
A message from the Office Many parents/carers are using our direct debit facility to pay their school fees. Please use you stu-
dents’ surname as the reference for these payments to make it possible for us to keep track of these
payments.

Mt Beauty - Kate and Lis
Warby - Naomi and Jack
Mt. Beauty have had a fantastic start to term 4! We have enjoyed getting back to our learning and have
been working on our M100W words and learning ‘ch’ and ‘ck’ blends in spelling. Maths has been great
fun, we have been learning about place value, using blocks and number charts. We are excited to start
our swimming lessons at Moore’s Swimming again this term, we just love swimming! Our highlight so
far for the term is going to the show and seeing all the animals and our Art work.
On Wednesday Warby class
went to Wenham's camp in
the beautiful Warby Ranges.
Next year these students will
be in VCAL and this is
where the VCAL students
have an overnight camp.
Zak is back from his holiday
in America. He went to a
Basketball game a Hockey
match and the Ice Hockey.
He also saw the Grand Can-
yon and paid a visit to Las
Vegas. It’s good to have him

Welcome back everyone! Term 4 has arrived and we in the Mt Typo classroom have a busy term ahead.
We have welcomed another new stu-
dent to our classroom, Jerome, who
joins us from Belvoir Special School.
We are excited to spend the next few
weeks getting to know Jerome and
helping him settle into his new school.
We were lucky enough to venture down to the
Wangaratta show and check out all the excit-
ing things happening there. The boys enjoyed
attending the circus, learning about Australian
animals and looking and the show bags.
On Friday we travelled to Milawa and the boys participated in
the Fox Run. It was great to see the boys getting involved and
having a go at each obstacle. They certainly were not afraid to
get a little wet or dirty! Well done boys, fantastic effort.

Morgan - Daine and Sharon
We have had an exciting start to the final term for 2018. As part of our Geography unit, we are studying
countries from around the world. Students are working in groups of three and researching two different coun-
tries. Groups are also cooking a dish that represents each of their countries in our weekly cooking sessions.
So far we have had pizza from Italy and Brazilian Chocolate Truffles. We look forward to Teriyaki Chicken
from Japan next week. We have also welcomed three new students into Morgan. Kaden has moved from
Queensland and is with us full time. Tyson and Elijah are with us for an afternoon each on a Monday and
Wednesday. We also had our third social enterprise pop up shop this week. We sold a range of sweet treats
up the main street and had another hugely successful day. We are looking forward to making a donation to
Wangaratta Care Van with the proceeds.

Taminick - Sarah, John and Belinda
This week the Taminick class wish to share this yummy alternative to traditional Fried Rice.
Well, we are full swing into term 4 and in the home straight for Christmas holidays. Woo Hoo.. We finished off term 3 with some minute to win it games with the Morgan and Mt Emu classes which showed some amazing agility and skill and a lot of fun was had by all involved.
I have been so proud of our students and their amazing artwork so far this year, and we were fortunate to place some on display at the recent Wangaratta Show. The past two weeks we have been working on a couple of school banners to be displayed at the Wangaratta Jazz Fes-tival and at the Wangaratta YMCA for the ‘Walk to School’ promotion and this week we are wrapping up our Leonardo Da Vinci unit with some flying kite constructions.
ART with Jodi, Stella & Jody
Buffalo - Phillipa, Sue, Jill, Shannon, Darlene and Lisa
Stirling - Lee, Meg, Tina & Jade
Welcome back to the busiest term in the school calendar!! Term 4 is certainly a busy one. It is hard to believe
that we are already at the end of October.
We got the term off to a flying start. We celebrated Elijah’s birthday with a cake. We have recommenced our
letters of the week. So far we have already done R, Y and V. Elijah was really excited to do V as he has a wealth
of knowledge about volcanoes. He was able to tell some of his classmates about what happens when volcanoes
erupt. We cooked yo-yos for the letter Y and rocky road for the letter R. Francis and Tyler especially enjoyed
the cooking component of the letter of the week. Callum as always enjoyed doing activities based around our
letters.
The students have been going for a walk for PE as part of the walk to school initiative. Darren had a great time
trying out a new mode of transport. He could hardly contain his excitement at the prospect of using a wheel-
chair.
As we head towards the end of the year, we see such amazing friendships that have developed in Buffalo.
The kids have all found a new network of friends and really enjoy their days together, whether it be hanging
out during relaxation, painting nails and even all working together in class. We have watched them grow so
much and can’t believe that the end of the year is creeping up on us. What we do know is that the friendships
formed this year will last well through the school years.

Mt. Emu - Frazer and Emily
We have a great start to term 4 here in Mt Emu. We were lucky enough to visit the Wangaratta Show. We
saw lots of animals, checked out our great art stall, went to the circus and of course the boys checked out all
the rides.
We also completed the Fox Run in Milawa. The boys completed the muddy obstacle course that included
slides, hay bales and nets. It was an amazing, extremely muddy day.
COBBLER AT THE SHOW
A great time was had preparing for and attending the
Wangaratta Show.
Students loved the circus, loved preparing food, and
loved seeing their cakes and other cooking in the show.
Well done boys in Cobbler!

Students from VCAL 1 & 2 visited Bunnings last week
to make jewellery display boxes. Simon, the activities
coordinator from Bunnings in Wangaratta kindly donat-
ed all resources, time and equipment to assist our stu-
dents and to enable them to experience a different work
environment. Students were highly engaged and really
enjoyed the hands on aspect of the day – a BIG thank
you to Simon and the staff from Bunnings Wangaratta.
VCAL 1 and 2 - Jodie, Meg , Rosie, Adrian, Hilly and Ash
Kosciusko - Matt, Jordan and Lizz
Kossie has been busy over the first two weeks of term, working on their planter boxes for their ‘grow a seed
for a feed’ social enterprise. We have been decorating the boxes in different designs and they are looking
fantastic. Last term, Kossie planted a variety of herb and vegetable seeds that have germinated and are grow-
ing like crazy in the green house. These seedlings will be planted in the planter boxes and be ready for sale
later in the term. On community access we have been exploring different towns around Wangaratta and have
been collecting photos of local attractions and businesses to create a North East Calendar for 2019.
