A message from Mr HorsleyLast week was an exciting week for me in my role as Executive Principal. As the culmination of much research, discussion and planning, major initiatives were announced at the Association meeting of I.A.C.P.C.E.

These announcements, summarised for you in letters from the Board Chair, Mr Andrew Spence, Dr Kate Bertram and me, outline the developments and initiatives that have been thought and prayed over for a period of 18 months or so, ever since I assumed my position at ICS.

It is exciting to plan for the future and it is easy to be caught up in this excitement and by default to assume it’s all our own work. However, the reality is that this is God’s work. We constantly pray for wisdom and guidance and when we receive it often we scarcely acknowledge that it is the Lord who has answered our prayers and provided what we asked for.

The great problem we have as human beings is in ignoring our Lord and creator and treating Him as if He doesn’t exist or is not relevant. So it can be even for those who claim Jesus as their Lord and Saviour that we can act and behave in ways that fail to acknowledge that our wisdom and discernment comes from Him.

I need to remind myself daily that all the goodness we experience would disappear if God were to cease caring for us and His world. Our society has forgotten what the Lord has done in the same way that the people of Israel often forgot the love that He lavished upon them. As you read the Old Testament, time and again, the Israelites were reminded of the Exodus and the many rescues from their enemies. They were reminded to rely on God and to trust Him in all things.

So we too must do this – we are the new children of God, made heirs with Christ through the death and resurrection of God’s only Son, Jesus the Christ. In all our excitement in making these plans and executing them may we never forget the Lord “who never slumbers or sleeps” (Psalm 121:4). He never forgets us. Let us reflect on Psalm 121 and know that our help comes from the Lord.

Mr Tony Horsley - The Executive Principal
