There have been some changes to the way the newsletter is saved on the website which we hope will allow easier access to

it. Please check the website to view these changes. All improvements, I hope.

Year 12 and 13 parent-teacher interviews were well attended this week. It was most encouraging to meet so many parents.

The PSG is working very hard to organise the Christmas Fayre. This is one of the school’s major events of the year so your

help would be much appreciated. Please see the appeal for help later in the newsletter. Raffle Tickets have been sent home.

We have a number of prizes already donated and the main prize will be 2 return tickets to any destination on the Qatar

Airways network. We are very grateful to Qatar Airways for their kind donation.

The school will hold its annual GCSE Presentation Evening on the 18th

November. Our guest this year is Dr. Thomas J.

Hochstettler, the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, at the American University of Sharjah. We are looking forward to

welcoming him warmly to the school. Next year we will hold our first A-level presentation evening.

Dubai Marathon Update – please see attached.

Year 12 and 13

Thank you to all parents who attended the meetings this

week. The staff welcomed the opportunity to meet with

you and much valuable information was exchanged.

Secondary Students Snowflake Competition,

The deadline for the snowflake contest is Tuesday, 17th

November at 3:00 pm! This will give Mr Egan and Mr

Shinn time to judge the snowflakes before the Christmas

Fayre on 20th November. The prize will be given at the

Fayre (15 vouchers to Bowling City at AUS). Some

reminders; please put your snow flake up on your own

using tiny pieces of blue or white tac on the tips of your

6 pointed snow flake. Write your name, form and 2009

on your snowflake. After you put one on your locker,

why not try another one or more? If you put your flake

on a window please make sure you give your snow flake

plenty of space so that it can be seen and help to

decorate the windows. Primary students are welcome

to cut snowflakes, but they will not be judged. The

contest for Primary students involves Christmas cards.

Thank you,

PSG

Help for SES Costumes

PSG is looking asking for donations of clothes hangers

and large, CLEAR, plastic bags (zippered bags are best,

like the kind that pillows or blankets come in). These will

be used to manage and store the wonderful costumes at

SES.

Foundation Teddy Bear’s Picnic

If you went down to the Foundation garden on the 5th

November you were sure of a big surprise. All the

children were in disguise and every bear that ever there

was had gathered there, because that was the day the

children had their Teddy Bear’s Picnic.

There were lots of marvellous things to eat and

wonderful games to play. It was lovely in the garden

that day and at one o’ clock the tired children went

home with wonderful stories to tell.

Gingerbread Men/Houses

Please note that completed order forms for the

Christmas Gingerbread Men and/or Houses need to be

returned to the School Office by Sunday 15th

November

and not as stated on the form on 26th

November.

Appeal for help

Mrs. Hutchison and Mr. Shinn ask if any parents would

be able to help with the backdrop for the Primary

Christmas performance. If you are able to help, please

leave your name and contact number at the Primary

School Office.

Christmas Fayre Raffle Tickets

Your child should have brought home some information

about the Christmas Fayre as well as a booklet with

Raffle tickets. There are some excellent prizes to be

won. Any money and unsold tickets should be returned

to the School Office by Sunday 15th

November.

Uniform

We are pleased to announce that ZAKS will be taking

part in the Christmas Fayre. They will have uniform for

YOUNG LEADERS AT SHARJAH ENGLISH SCHOOL

Year 6 Playground Leaders:

The Year 6 Playground Leaders were out in force looking very smart on Thursday at

playtime. The Leaders did a fantastic job of providing Key stage 1 with a variety of

activities to improve their skill and fitness level and keep them occupied during

playtime! Well done Year 6!

The Sports Leaders have been assisting with the 1 o clock Foundation club, dance,

outdoor games, rounders and swimming. Calum in Year 10 was so pleased with

himself because he taught a year 3 boy how to dive! Excellent effort leaders. The next

challenge for the Leaders is to organise a water aid challenge for the primary classes

to raise money. Good luck Leaders!
