Annual GalaEach April, the Lee County Junior Leagure gears up for their Annual Gala which occurs at the end of the month. The gala is hosted at the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Arts. The gala is open to members around the com-munity for a fee of $100 a couple. The gala features a silent auction and a sit down dinner. This year, the Auburn University Band will be playing music while people eat and enjoy company at the auction.

This event is one of the largest fundraisers for the league. Carry White is the committee chair for this event. She will be collecting donations for the auction up through April 1. If you would like to donate anything, or participate in the actual gala you may visit www.jlc-gala.com or contact Carry White at [email protected].

Art WalkThe Art Walk this year was a major success. 321 people came out to support the Junior League’s annual fundraising event at the Jule Collins Smith Art Museum.

The Junior League Art Walk/Run for Children is one of two primary fundrais-ers for the Junior League of Lee County. The funds raised support various com-munity organizations that focus on arts and literacy for children in Lee County. Specific organizations that it helps are: The Reading Initiative of the Junior League, Alabama Council on Human Relations, Lee County Literacy Coalition, Lee County Public Schools, Boys & Girls Club, City of Auburn Parks & Recre-ation, and the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art.

Members and some families joined in the festivites for all day work projects. Jane Doe said that the event was the most rewarding event of the year so far. Her family joined her as she helped paint an elderly woman’s home.

Rummage SaleThe Rummage sale will be held Saturday, April 4th 7:00 am to 12:00pm at the Old TR Motors building located at 3600 Pepperell Parkway out in Ope-lika.
